We used Floors Plus on a recommendation through a (former) interior designer's "people," i.e. Floors Plus used as a flooring supplier/installer through a "home builder" the designer & her GC often work with. Floors Plus offered very low prices in order to secure our business....but at a HUGE cost to us in the end.
The owner, Mark, firstly claimed he'd already ordered our tile and carpet, WEEKS in advance, though he had never been asked by anyone to do so. We later discovered this was totally untrue, as the tile distributor later informed us that NO order had even been placed until only about 2-3 DAYS before Mark's *next* story.
This was when he told us was he was being pressured by the tile distributor to pay for our order (since he'd *supposedly* ordered it WEEKS prior), and needed us to pay HIM to secure it so it wouldn't be put back in general circulation (we'd wanted to secure a particular dye lot). But what really happened was that he actually took our money to use for his own purposes, and we only later found out the tile distributor doesn't even take any money on orders until the day they're picked up. Our carpet was never actually ordered, either, which we then discovered when we pressed Mark let us view this order, which was supposedly sitting in his own "warehouse. ONLY then did he admit he hadn't ordered it yet.
We had unsuccessfully tried to catch Mark at his store (wasn't usually returning our calls), and had attempted for weeks to get our tile order delivered to us through Floors Plus, but in the end, he took our money and didn't deliver a thing. Eventually he claimed he was declaring bankruptcy, said he was busy funneling everything into his son's name, 'promised' to give us back our money, but refused to give us the name of his bankruptcy Trustee so we could be added as creditors. We never did find a bankruptcy filing for Floors Plus or Mark, personally, though - got tired of paying for searches netting no results.
We ended up filing against his company, and received a Judgement from the Court, but between the list of other creditors that had already gone after his company and seized money and property (we have the Registry Searches to prove it), and other pressing issues we had at that same time, we were unable to collect on anything before his company closed its doors. We then had to purchase our tile all over again, DOUBLING the cost to us, and with no "free delivery" included anymore, either.
Other than one attempted phone call to Mark (apparently not returned) by our former designer, neither her, her GC, nor the home builder would help us recover our funds and none seemed concerned that their own names would now be associated with this act of blatant theft. NO consumer should have to deal with such con artists/bad business owners, or suffer such large losses, especially when those in related industries recommend them as suppliers/installers!
Additionally, the BBB unexpectedly closed our initial complaint, merely on conjecture of *possible* bankruptcy of Floors Plus - though no such bankruptcy had been filed formally at the time (we had legally checked). Floors Plus currently retains their listed "A+" rating on the BBB's site and Mark is still listed there as President. Way to work for the consumer, BBB.
We've heard he is now planning on opening another flooring store but under a new company name, and possibly under his son, Lindsay's, ownership, instead. If you don't want to become a victim of theft, STAY FAR AWAY from these two!!!
