Repair of Kenmore electric range
Our range broke down on Christmas day and tripped the breaker. Starting Dec 26 I phoned around until got a reference from a Vancouver company to call Klaus, as he is one of the few repair men that service both Vancouver and North Vancouver. He fully checked our elements and oven, and did not find anything wrong, except that the oven temperature was not correct. So, Klaus advised my wife to adjust her recipes to the oven, by trials. He did not replace any parts, so appreciate that Klaus did not try to sell us on services or parts we did not need.
After about 6 weeks, in which my wife had trouble cooking in the oven, my wife discovered that the bottom of the oven was always cold. Called back Klaus, as his work is under warranty for 30 days or so. Klaus brought the wrong bottom element the first time, then the second time he brought the right element, but was unable to mount it as he did not know our range. He left us waiting to return, which he never did. I find that he was not honest as he did not recognize that he was not familiar with our range. At the end I had to pay Sears service man another $140 to fix the problem.
I think, Klaus should have been honest from the beginning and not accept to service an appliance he was not familiar with and was not able to find information how to fix it. The reason I give him 1 start and not 0 starts is that he was one of the few repair men who came to service our range on Dec 27, when most repair companies do not work. Also his system of charging time in small time increments can save you money, if he knows what he is doing.
For us it was a bad experience.
