Backwater Value installation

After experiencing a flood in my basement in July 2013, I contacted A Alert Drain to ask for the installation of a back water value to prevent this problem in the future. Fred was helpful and very attentive. The whole street is using his service to address the sewer backup problem on our street.

Install new toilet and troubleshoot pipe issue in upstairs bathroom

I had called around to a number of places for my project but chose A Alert because of their upfront and reasonable pricing and professionalism. Our plumber Wendell was methodical in troubleshooting our issue yet conscious on wanting to save us money. We had a leak from the bathroom come into our kitchen below but luckily we didn't need to cut a hole in the ceiling to assess the pipes as Wendell was able to fix the issue when the new toilet was installed. I would not hesitate to use this company again for any future plumbing projects!

Basement floor drain replacement

Basement flooded due to roots in the storm drain under the basement concrete floor - drain needed to be replaced. Lifted all broadloom & exposed floor. Got 7 quotes - 6 written - AAlert was verbal! Not only were they the best price (ranged up to $8.3K!), but work quickly, neatly and exactly as promised. Also investigated a clogged toilet and explained my drain system to me at no extra charge.

pipe burst

We did not drain our exterior pipe therefor in summer the pipe burst when inside shut off was turned on. I called around many companies and rates went from $200 - $700.
The plumber was available in few days and came on time. He was the most professional and friendly tradesman i have ever dealt with, he knew exactly what to do. I was weary of ripping the dry wall but we had no other choice, he cut a small hole to make less work for me and he cut at the perfect spot and had access to fix the burst pipe.
It took him probably 45 mins and we were done. I hope we never had any plumbing problem but if i do, ill not be worried cuz I know A Alert Drain is there to help us with very reasonable rates.

Highly Recommend this company to anyone.

blocked drain

The plumber came quickly, within hours of my phone call. He worked quickly in a very tight location, and fixed the problem all within the minimum time for a service call. They are good, reasonably priced, and fast to respond. Other plumbers gave estimates of more than twice the price, and could not come the same day.

drain repair

10 years ago we had several companies tell us we needed an imediate sewer line replacement. As for most, it was unexpected and we could not gather the funds. We called A Alert drain for an estimate and they sent Dwayne who recomended a camera inspection for a second opinion. Dwayne showed us the camera and recomended we snake the roots out. We did, Dwayne, then re camera the drain and made a video tape, he sugested we check it in one year and compare the tape to determine the severity of root growth. We trusted Dwayne and followed his recomendation. The next year Dwayne returned and the camera reveiled our problem was not so urgent but we should budget for future repairs 9 years later we experienced another back up and immediatly called A Alert. Much to our surprise Dwayne was still available. Upon his return he profesionally diagnosed the problem and the repair was now needed. We had prepared financially thanks to our friend Dwayne. Our problem was fixed properly, cost efficiantly and with surprisingly clean workmansip. We will never call any other plumber.

Thanks, Jessica M.

snake and video main drain

First time I experienced sewer backed up in the basement. I phoned three companies and decided on Alert because I liked the company's policy of "knowing the cost before we start". Cal, the service person was great...not only did he expertly snaked the drain right up to the city's sewer line, he was very informative on what the video was showing as the camera snaked through the whole length of the drain. Yes, I am having some root problem with the front maple tree, but the drain was in very good shape and there is no need to spend thousands of dollars laying a new plastic pipe to the city's main line... maintenance snaking every two or three years should be sufficient to prevent another backed up sewer into the basement. The cost was to the penny of the telephone quotation and 33% less than the telephone quotation of a competitor with rave reviews on Homestars. I am very satisfied with the service... great service, no unpleasant surprise on the cost which itself is very fair. Plus, I got educated on what's happened and how to maintain the main drain.

Water Leakage

I had a leakage in the basement from a pipe leading from laundry sink in the main floor to the floor drain in the basement. Tony came in, rip off the drywall, which had already been cut open to expose the leakage, looked at the situation for 2 minutes, concluded there was nothing he could do without first cameraing the whole underground drain system, wrote a two-line report, charged me $63.6, and took off. He was also kind enought to provide a quote for the recommended project - $250 for the camera and $1,300 to dig up.

I called another experienced plumber. He told me over the phone its probably a loose washer in the tap of the laundry sink. This is bang on as I remember hearing a hissing sound in the tap. The cost, $60.
