Hansen Plumbing needs to address their code and technical issues more thoroughly in the installation of new or replacement equipment as they had to return several times to modify their original work to pass City of Calgary inspection. They should have reviewed the code requirements more thoroughly after their initial jobsite inspection and cost estimation. The basic issue was supply sufficient gas volume to the new equipment with separate parallel lines. Thankfully, the City of Calgary code inspectors ensured that the final work passed inspection. Hansen was co-operative throughout the work and, eventually, the work. However, this work should have been completed to code the first time instead of multiple return trips which required major scheduling issues to us.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $15,000.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Their service was more than adequate during the installations; but, as per above, their interpretation and understanding of building code requirements could stand additional review.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- I don't know how, as the homeowner, could have anticipated the code requirements (or is expected to); but, I believe the contractor should be aware of his working codes and meeting them.
