Canoak Flooring Ltd

We hired Canoak to supply and install 1000 square feet of hardwood flooring. 1st attempt was installed incorrectly using half the required nails leaving the flooring moving and creaking throughout as verified by 2 inspectors and had to be removed. 2nd attempt Canoak installers never notice a manufacturing defect and had to remove the flooring again. With our house torn apart for months we were given no choice but to pay extra for more product to replace the product from the manufacturing defect. A year and a half after the project began it was finally complete. Had to take them to court, and although successful with a decision in our favor, over a month later they have not paid and are not responding to pay the court decision.

My daughter chose this company based on a referral. They were supposed to have the work done in a week, it took 3 weeks. They kept changing the cost on us, everything was "extra" and then they wouldn't warranty the work. They then left the house a mess, leaving their garbage behind for us to clean up.
NOT IMPRESSED!
Would not recommend this company to anyone.

I am extremely happy with my decision to purchase from Canoak Flooring. The product is exceptional and the installers professional. It is obvious that they know what they are doing. Everything happened on schedule. I would highly recommend this company.

We purchased hardwood flooring from this company in June 2007. We made our decision based on a sample at the store as well as a sales rep who talked about the great value of the floor as well as the industrial fnish and wonderful warranty on the product as long as we used their installer.
Within days of the floor being installed it started to fall apart.
Large chunks fell out of the floor and knots popped out. It slivered and became jagged in spots. The installation was horrible as well. There are huge gaps between the boards and in a few spots you can actually see the subfloor beneath.
After trying to get somewhere with the owner of the company not only on issues of quality of the floor but also with the installation and getting nowhere, we contacted the Better Business Bureau. We found that they had many complaints against them and most of them remain unresolved. We tried to work out a deal with the owner where we were willing to pay the difference between the inferior product they sold us and a higher grade floor but he wouldn't agree to that. He wanted us to foot the entire bill. We contacted the company which supplies all the flooring to Canoak (Model) and they refused to do anything for us either. The sample boards weren't indicative of the wood quality and the rep certainly didn't mention that the floor would fall apart and sliver. Our 3 children and ourselves have to watch for slivers in our feet! Not sure what happened to this wonderful warranty the sales rep spoke of either. Seems it was just a ploy to close the deal.
The owner refused to even deal with the Better Business Bureau so we are left with no other option than to get word out that this business doesn't play fair. After speaking with others over the past year and telling our story we know of 2 other families who have had similar dealings with this company. I have noticed a few other compaints on line as well.
I would highly recommend that you don't deal with this company at all as it is clear they are only interested in getting your money.
