Exterior Insulation Finish System a.k.a. Stucco
These guys are experts, it's unbelievable what a difference knowledge makes. They wouldn't even price my house until they made sure i understood what EIFS was as Gus said, "it's marketed as Stucco but it's really Exterior Insulation Finish Systems get on Google and read up about it, understand it, make sure that this is what you want".
I didn't really understand why he would ask this of me, until i found out what EIFS really was and came to the conclusion that Stucco or EIFS is really a Consumer Beware product. The reason as I came to understand is that on average stucco is stucco and it looks the same when it's done regardless who's doing it... or at least that was my impression before. The technology is all about how it is installed and maximizing it's ability to be ascetically pleasing. It is prone to moisture, and water penetration if not installed correctly. No EIFS companies are licenced like a plumber or electrician so anyone can make the claims of knowing this stuff. But it really is a science and after knowing what i know, i won't put EIFS on my house in the future unless it is Tangent.
I had my socks blown off... these guys are unreal. I realized that one of the reasons why Gus, or the guys at Tangent asked me to inform myself was two folds, one so that i could ask questions to the potential contractors who would solicit my work (already knowing the answers to confirm their qualifications) as in Gus's words "everyone is a stucco contractor". The other reason was because in order to do it correctly there is a fixed cost. Some contractors were comming in at prices which were extremely low, (fly by night anyone???) Tangent was the highest in price less than 10% from my second highest... and i went with them.
It was well worth it, I get comments on my custom home's "stucco" by all my friends and many passer-byes.
Thank you Tangent Team.
