Incomplete Exterior Reno

This was a complete outside reno of my home which was to be completed in 2 months but it has been 9 months and the work is still incomplete. Some of the work is acceptable and other work is poor quality. I get the runaround whenever I call to find out what is going on. I have chosen my colours three times because they they can't obtain the colours or styles I choose from their samples. Customer service is 0 out of 10. They miss appointments, they don't call you even when they say they will and they don't care. I need to keep calling them or they will go months without calling me. Big mistake I made was that the contract just listed one big price for the whole project. Now it is hard to back out because I don't have a price breakdown of each item. If I new the breakdown I would just give them what I owe and run far away and keep running like Forest Gump.

Nisby has been around a long time but I think it has changed management and the company is on its way to the cemetary. Don't believe the sly salesman. He makes you feel that you and your house are going to get the Royal treatment and then after you pay your deposit he is gone, never to be seen again and never returns your phone calls.

I was warned by a number of other homeowners, as well as other Contractors, but I didn't listen. I didn't want to believe their outragious stories but now I know first hand. Do not pay a dime until the job is complete and you are satisfied! Get a quote that breaks down each portion of the job and materials. Better still, go somewhere else! Run Forest Run!

Exterior Renos

What A NIGHTMARE!! Summer of 2014 we hired Nisbey for exterior coatings and soffits and eavestroughs, approx. $10,000 in work. There's not nearly enough space here to detail the nightmares that occurred getting the work done, which finally finished in October. There were a few small touch ups outstanding, however we agreed (foolishly) to pay the bill IN FULL with the understanding that come spring they would be tended to. Called them twice so far starting in April, its now mid June and they haven't even bothered to call back. This is quite simply the worst customer service, follow up and communication that I have ever experienced. How they are in business can only be explained one way..... the salesperson was great!
FOLLOW-UP....... About a week after posting this review I received a phone call from the company, saying they would arrange to come out to the house and look after the outstanding work. Months passed, winter came (and now has gone) and never heard from them again. We hired College Pro to do the rest. Nisbey = BRUTAL.

home renovation

My husband had worked with this company years ago. When the time came to have work completed we called for an estimate. The estimator was friendly and listened to our needs. In the end we had quite a bit of work done. They arranged for a painter to do the stucco outside, someone to replace the door and some windows, and also someone to do our siding. They were all exceptional. The painter was polite and particular ( we have hired him again to do some interior painting). The gentleman who did the doors would do anything for you, he was fussy and cleaned up well. The siding was done by a perfectionist. I would recommend this company to anyone.

new windows

An acquaintance of mine suggested this company to me for my windows. They came to our house and showed us a brochure which had the window c. hoices. We chose the top quality. Once ordered it took much longer than the estimated time for them to arrive, as they were being custom made. It actually took a couple of months for them to arrive. I cannot say enough about the installers. They did a fantastic job, they were obliging, polite and considerate. They answered all my questions reassuring me along the way. I absolutely love these windows, we have received a lot of good comments. It has transformed our home, the inside trim is stunning.

new windows

I drive by this window company almost everyday. I called for an estimate. They came 3 times, once to measure, the second time to recheck the measurements and review cost. The third visit was to discuss my inside trim. It took some time for the windows to come; a very long time, almost 5 months. In the end I was calling them every second day, asking where were my windows. We had to negotiate when they would be installed, initially they weren't able to come on the pre arranged days ( I had take time off work for the installation). I disputed that and in the end, they came on those days. I love the window now that they are in, I get lots of compliments.

Windows

Well I decided to replace the front sliding door in my living room and the tall window in my dining room. Nisby had done the windows in my dads house. Their work was fast and seemed good. They even did warranty work on his kitchen window in a flash.
We gave them our deposit on October 31,2014. We heard nothing for months. No windows no calls. Finally we decided to start calling and figuring out when these windows were going in. Shortly after Christmas we finally got a hold of a representative. He told us that everyone was on holidays until the 5th of January, and he'd let us know then. No word back. Finally on the 20th of January after a few phone calls, he said he would give us an install date by the end of that week, which would have been the 23rd of January. It is now February 14th, and we have heard nothing. My family is freezing, and my hydro bills are so expensive, I've had to sell my snowmobile to keep up.

Roofing

I chose Nisby to replace my roof a number of years ago, based on a recommendation from my neighbour. Their quote was pretty much in the middle of the four quotes I received, and their estimator was able to answer my questions very well. For the most part, the work was well done, although they did not install the drip edge on the back extension of the house -- which I did not notice until recently, when I had to go up onto the roof to investigate a leak around the chimney flashing. This is where I discovered that the crew had cut corners, which I did not notice at the time.

Having worked as a roofer during a summer job many years ago, I know that the flashing around the chimney is a prime source of roof leaks. To do the job properly, sheet metal must be bent and inserted into the spacing between the bricks and (ideally) mortared into place. Step flashing is used on the slope, and this is also sealed into the chimney. There are other methods of doing this, but this approach is the most common.

I had an idea that things were not well when I started to see indications that water was pooling above my kitchen ceiling, which is on the main floor of my two-story home. A careful inspection of the chimney from inside the house where the chimney penetrates the roofline revealed a sliver of light along the chimney, indicating the source of the leak. I had never noticed any leaks previously, but this is because the water had been channeling along the chimney and soaking into the structure of my second floor. This was never apparent, until the accumulated damage began to be revealed by drywall stains in the kitchen ceiling.

I got up on a ladder today to investigate why the flashing had failed, only to discover the re-flashing I had paid for was simply a piece of sheet metal folded around the chimney and pasted on with roofing cement. Given that there was nothing substantial fastening the flashing to the chimney, the cement had dried out and cracked -- probably within a year or two of the work being done -- allowing the sheet metal to pull away from the chimney and cause a leak. This should have never happened had the work been done correctly. Having discovered that this leak had probably been allowing seepage into the house for many years, I now have to have the attic and roof structure inspected for rot due to water damage. The frustrating part is that I did not climb up on the roof in order to inspect the workmanship before paying for the job. Obviously, this would not be required if a reputable firm is doing the work!

I patched the flashing with more roofing cement today, but this is only a temporary fix. In the spring, I will have to remove the shingles around the chimney so that the the flashing can be re-done and sealed correctly. This situation should never have happened. Although I was satisfied with the job at the time, I now find myself faced with potential damage to the structure of my home and a very expensive roof repair because Nisby's crew had cut corners, doing shoddy and completely substandard work on a critical part of the roof that could not be easily seen and assessed from ground level. This is not what I expected from a supposedly reputable firm. Buyer beware.

exterior work

We had exterior work done and although the work when completed was good, dealing with management was an experience I would never want to repeat. Out of 4 companies that we had work done by this year this has been by far the worst experience.
