I looked at some furniture in the morning at Ambers, and left to look at other furniture. I saw some furniture at another store for a much better deal. I called to see if Ambers could do the same deal, but in leather. The sales associate said she would phone the owner to see if he would do the deal. She called me back to say they would do the deal if I gave them money down immediately over the phone with my Visa. I gave them $1850.00. The sales person said that she would check out the leather, and that we could sit down the next week, pick out the hardware, leather color, and write up the deal.
They phoned me the next week to say that Sahara was closed that week, and she would have to speak with them the following week.
The following week I was contacted to say that leather was too much, and that they couldn't do the deal. I said fine give my deposit back, and I would go back to the other place to buy the furniture. I was told it was store policy to only give a store credit. I never signed a contract, Was shown an invoice, or made aware of the in store credit policy. I spoke with the sales associate, and manger, and both of them said no way are you getting good your money back other than a store credit, and hung up on me. I think it's fair that if they couldn't beat the deal at the other store that I buy it from the store that gave me the best deal first, not match a deal. I think it's deceitful what they did. I feel that part of the problem may have been that the sales person's English was maybe not strong, and didn't fully understand what we discussed, and unfortunately I had to pay the price for it.
