The people we dealt with from doing the estimate to the doing the roof to the doing siding to the doing eaves troughs were excellent. These people worked on our home as if it was their own. The detail & pride of workmanship was very evident. We would recommend the crews we had without hesitation.

After a hail storm we had some damage to our roof and siding. We decided to upgrade the exterior by adding styrofoam insulation and new stucco. Shaw Construction handled all of the renovation professionally and curteously. We did have an issue with a portion of the stucco not being consistant across the front of the house. Although we said we could live with it, Shaw came back in the spring and redid the entire house. I would definitely use Shaw again.

Shaw Renovation built our garage early this fall and the construction went well, but Jon didn't pay one of the subcontractors and now they have registered a lien on my title. If you use this company, make sure you sign a contract that allows for a 10% hold back of payment (as per the Builders' Lien Act) so you can make sure all the subs get paid.

If your to use this company get a very detailed contract, I will give you examples of what should have been in my contract. double garage, insulated and finished inside built 5yrs ago. sub base under concrete will be compacted so the pad will not sink. all rebar will be covered with cement. cement walls should be filled with concrete to the top of the forms and a float used so the wall resembles some form of being flat and even. the floor of the garage shall resemble being flat, not rolling hills, and not run all the water into the corners. studs do indeed need to be in contact at the base and top. 3/8 thick osb is not strong enough for sheeting. windows will be installed square and not bowed. garage doors need all fasteners to be attached to structure to prevent falling guides for the doors- a qualified technician will install the large doors, not someone who has to return 5 times to get it right. pedestrian door will be installed square with proper support to hold in place, not one nail. Trim will not be installed with common nails. persons installing the siding will read the instructions and abide by same, not state "this is the way we always do it". some form of clean up should take place so nails aren't being picked up a year after construction. Roof vents are necessary and should be installed. insulation will not cover soffits. all vapor barrier seams will be taped. drip cap will be installed with roofing. ice shield will be installed with roofing. electrician and builder will not gouge customer with 1700% mark up on $100 upgrade. qualified tapers and mudders who do quality work will be used. The customer has the right to phone the city to make sure permits have been passed by inspectors and it is not the fault of the homeowner that the builder had to pay for re-inspection. Last but not least; the owner of Shaw Construction will not Threaten bodily harm or Challenge homeowner to fight, at least not in front of neighbors or homeowner's family. There are no industry standards or minimum code standards to support homeowners to get a garage built. You have building permits only, electrical and structure that is it. My consult with a lawyer can be summed up in one statement, 'Was it specified in the contract". Run, Run far away. have 100 pictures of this project by Shawdy construction, sorry i am a poor at spelling.

The workers were late most days and weren't very pleasant to deal with. They took a chain saw to my apple tree without informing us that this would have to be done. They refused our check stating that their accountant had never heard of the bank and then demanded a certified cheque. The Forman was very unpleasant to deal with

They came in a fixed a pipe for our family. The pipe only needed a quick fix, so the plumber actually decided to let us have the repair done free of charge!

Shaw did a great job on the Wood Awining for the kids, Daycare at my work. The gave me a good price and they showed up on time. Did the job and it looks great. Everyone who knows the old awing, really likes this new one. I would recomment Shaw to anyone.

Shaw is supposed to re-do the exterior siding on our home after hail damage last summer. They promised the job could be done before Christmas. Not only have they not started the work, they have been impossible to contact, completely uncommunicative. We asked for a quote on additional work (putting in a window) and it took 4 months for them to get back to us with a simple quote. Our problem is that the insurance company has already issued a cheque to Shaw for the work so we can't easily transfer the job to another company.

very professional in all aspects of the job. john shaw provided lots of references and gave lots of good advice. built the garage very quickly, including concrete floor and retaining wall. did a great job of cleaning up and the price was comparable to other local companies.
