The corners leak

Very messy job. Crooked eaves troughs. Corners leak. Asked Mohammed to come back to straighten down spouts. He did come out and make them better. After a few rain storms the corners began to leak. He said he would come back, but never did.

Roof Re-Shingled

Canadian Home Services re-shingled my roof at a very high price ( I way over paid ). Six months later some shingles fly off my roof. I called them up and they claim it was a act of god and it is not covered by my warranty. What crap. A warranty means nothing with Canadian Home Services. They got your money - good bye! As another reviewer put it I don't know how they sleep at night. Oh, by the way if you see a good review here on them it is probably them giving more BS. WARNING. STAY AWAY FROM CANADIAN HOME SERVICES in Richmond Hill.

Fixing a leaky skylight

I sure wish I had known about HomeStars before I contacted Canadian Home Services. They came immediately when I asked them to fix my skylight, charged me $700 cash, spent some time on my roof, and told me it was fixed. When it leaked again with the next rainstorm, I could not get in touch with them to fulfill their warranty (which they had told me was 5 years). Finally I found the cell phone number for the guy who had arranged the appointment, and he grudgingly agreed to send someone out to fix it. Again, they claimed it was fixed, and again it leaked. This time the guy's cell phone had been cancelled. I called their office every other day for 3-4 weeks. Every time I called, they claimed someone would call me back tomorrow. I never ever received a call back. I put through a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which they did not reply to. I am in the process of complaining with the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services. The next time I get a brochure from them, I am going to photocopy it and put it in all my neighbours' mailboxes telling them not to call this business. How frustrating!

Roofing Work

We had this company do a job for us recently involving a small area of repair to our roof. As well, some "fixes" were done to our eavestroughing. When I came home to look at the work they had done, I was not convinced the job was completed, so I contacted them to get in touch with me to discuss this and possibly come out to confirm. A small piece of wood is showing just above the eavestrough. This doesn't seem right to me. I have since made three calls and none have been returned.

We made the mistake of not reviewing their reputation on Homestars and after my wife told me who they were I looked them up. Their rating is very poor and I'm now finding out why.

The sad part is, by not getting back to me they have availed themselves of the opportunity to defend their work.

We made the mistake of calling them because we saw them advertised in our local paper. I have since read that most of the good contractors never advertise because they don't need to. Lesson learned. I've not rated them as a zero, because I'm not sure if the work they did was substandard, but it appears to be and by not returning my calls, I would never ever recommend these people to anyone.

Repair to leaky roof

We called these guys to fix a leaky roof.
After a lengthy consultation we hired them. I'll admit my homework was incomplete, but their ad claimed they were members of the BBB and the guy seemed confident he knew how to fix our problem.
Their work was also supposed to be guaranteed for 5 years.
The "gentleman" I spoke with confirmed they'd be out the next day. I told him I'd be back by a certain time and to please ensure I was home before beginning work. I'd secured a long enough ladder to climb the roof and wanted to see the before and after, especially considering it was a $2,000 job.
Apparently they were up on the roof and "fixed" the problem during the short window I was away.
The man I spoke to called that evening looking for payment. I was suspicious and challenged him. I wasn't sure how anyone could have completed all that work in just under 2 hours, without any evidence of having removed shingles, etc.
His response included threats and foul language. Very professional.
It rained the next morning and, sure enough, our bedroom was flooded. In fact, their was MORE water coming in than there had been before.
I got ahold of the owner of the company who sent someone out to try again. And still our roof leaked. The third attempt to get the leak fixed by these shysters was met with a flat-out refusal, despite their "certificate of guarantee".

Then I got a real roofer out and he fixed the problem his first time out. Problem is, I was out $2,000 for my ignorance and lack of research.
I IMPLORE you to stay far away from this company if ever your roof needs fixing.

Please look elsewhere if you

We had our roof done.

Canadian Roofing was the only company whose representative took the time to sit down with me and explain everything clearly and carefully and answer all my questions. They also did a very professional job and I was extremely happy with the work. That was 7 years ago and we haven't had a single problem with the roof at all.

New porch roof with skylights

Roofer's subcontractors unable to install skylights, put in screws that broke the seal and warrenty from Columbia Skylights. Did not follow up, had to get another company to re-do their work, had to purchase new skylights.
They did not put in new joists, which was subsequently done by another contractor.
Refused to answer phone calls, e-mails and lawyers letters.
