Weed Man - Hamilton

DONT get involved with Weed Man! I hope you can lower the rating of this company even more than their current dismal rating. I am being harassed by them after discontinuing an on-demand service agreement last year (verbal only) after they neglected to provide the promised follow- up on my lawns. This spring they aerated without asking and billed me, now keep insisting I pay them for unsolicited services. And BTW don't try to find a manager to complain to- apparently the company is run solely by sales reps and 'service reps' who are just collections agents.

I had weed Man and had a terrible result. I did not hire them back and complained but no reply.
The next year they applied treatment to my lawn on two occasions while I was out of the country. Later they made claims that they called ahead of time. How could they, no one home. They claim they had the right to apply to lawn because I never cancelled. I actually was so unhappy with their service and results I would throw any advert letters in the garbage. Then I had a solicitation call to start service and I complained of the two episodes where they applied treatment uninvited and asked that the cease and desist. They would not. Calls when I came home from work could not be answered "office is closed"
Then they billed me for this service and I again complained with poor results and asked if they would stand behind there warranty. They instead sent the bill to collections. So they not only provided poor service, would not back their warranty, but made false statements about calling and advising of treatments in advance. Then they bully for payments. I would strongly recommend that you steer clear of this company as they lack integrity. I have NEVER not paid my bills in my life, however, this is a situation where I felt I had to take a stance. The notes I wrote back to them went completely ignored. Shame on them.

This is the worst company i have ever dealt with. I paid for an entire summer of weed control and fertilizer. When I signed up I said my main issue was Creeping Charlie. They said no problem, we kill all weeds.

As the summer progressed there was no progress but they said with the next application it would be taken care of. Well, the entire summer went by and guess what, the lawn was full of Creeping Charlie. I called on 2 separate occasions to ask that a manager come to my house and look at all the weeds and let me know how much I should be reimbursed.

He showed up both times with only a bunch of excuses as to why they were still there. Didn't take any responsibility. Said they were still getting familiar with the new product and that the grass looked like it was being cut a little short. They suggested some extra services that I should pay for that would help. RIDICULOUS! For a company called WEED MAN, you think they would know how to get rid of WEEDS.

I will make sure that no one that I know will ever use this company. A company that has over the top FAKE customer service, can't get rid of weeds and has employees that literally run across your yard with fertilizer, is COMPLETELY USELESS IN MY BOOKS!

I had to call back a few times to ask them to reapply for weeds on the front lawn. Staff were pleasant and came within a few days to follow up but in the end I had still remove the weeds in the end.

I wouldn't let the weedman ever do another thing again! I allowed them to come and do my yard for the 2011 year. I had a patch that had grubs and we agrred to spraying for grub control. Well i fixed that area and planted $75.00 worth of grass seed. The rest of the yard was sprayed with their Fiesta spray. I agree I had clover but was assured by the weedman rep this would take care of the problem. By October 2011 the area where my grass seed was planted and growing was completly dead in fact weeds will not even grow there now and I had more clover and weeds then before in the rest of my lawn. I spoke to the office and asked for a service rep to come over to discuss what happened 3 times I was told someone would be here and here it is March and no one has come. I am invoking the warranty on this but I can't get a service rep to come over and now weedman has sent it to a collection agency for payment. Not a repuatable company and no service after the fact. I am putting a sign on my lawn in time for spring stating this lawn was killed by WEEWDMAN!!

I have used this service provider for a few years now. The team of specialists and staff have offered quality lawn care, fertilizing, aerating, and grub control at a fair price, thereby freeing up my time to do other things. What I especially like is their policy to come back and reapply a product, at no charge, if "Mother Nature" interferes with the original application. (i.e. It rains but the lawn should not have been watered for 24 hours.) Their service can be pre-paid, thus saving a 10-20% but, it is an ongoing service, so, if you only want it for one season you must actively cancel the service.

Used Weedman out of Hamilton for 3 yrs then lost my job. When they called to renew I said I can't and they cancelled next year on the phone. In the spring they fertilized my lawn and invoiced me $175. I called and complained, they said OK you are cancelled and I don't have to pay. 2 months later I get an invoice with a late charge. I called again, they said I have to cancel by calling another number and I have to pay.

We cancelled our service in writing with the Weedman, Hamilton-Niagara last July 2010, one month after the product had no effect on our lawn.
Since then the Weedman service continued and additional services were done without consent – up until the end of the year 2010.
We have written many letters to the Weedman, without a single reply, with complaints about the service continuing and the additional work done with out consent. We also called by phone on many occasions with the same complaints, of which were to be passed on to management – this never happened, nobody from Weedman contacted us by phone. We have also submitted photographs of the weeds to make a point, but were totally ignored.
Weedman now have forwarded the so called debt to then to Credit Bureau of Canada Collections, who are now demanding the money which has grown to $530.33, or they will destroy our credit rating.

Weedman called me early in the year and asked me to sign up to their annual summer service. Their trick is to get you to agree to accept receipt of the early payment invoice, which really means you’re accepting the start of a contract between the two of you.
I told the telemarketer that I would not be accepting they're services if I didn't have a quote first, and that receiving a quote would not mean that I was agreeing to receive their services. They are not the only ones that take care of lawns!
The telemarketer, Rob, gave me the indication that if the “Early Payment” invoice wasn’t paid, that there would not be any contract between us. Payment = Contract.
The last week in April Weedman showed up to our house and applied the first treatment in their program, and proceeded to bill me $90 + for the service. I find it funny that the service employee treated the lawn even with a competitor’s sign sticking out at the curb, clearly indicating the property had already been treated. I called them May 2, telling them I had not agreed to any service commitments. They cancelled the service, and I heard nothing from them for about 3 weeks, at which point I started receiving calls to pay the outstanding invoice or they would send my file to collections.
I received another call on May 17th indicating that my account was past due and that I needed to pay it. I told the young lady that I had not agreed to the service, that it had been cancelled, and that I was not going to pay the invoice. She argued that I did have a contract which started in February, and had agreed to the terms. She stated that they had the original conversation from February recorded proving my acceptance. I told her to get me a copy of the recording because I knew I had said, “I I’m not agreeing to sign up for service and only agreeing to receive a quote for review”. She said that I would receive a call with the info. I never heard back from her again or from Weedman until June 1, when a message on my answering machine told me I needed to clear up the invoice ASAP to avoid collections.
I don’t really care about the whole collections thing, but figured it might make it more difficult to renew my mortgage in July.
Do not deal with these guys. I paid the invoice not because they were calling, but so I wouldn't potentially have any problems renewing my mortgage.
