Shade-O-Matic Ltd.

We recently had 6 dual roller shades installed from Shade-O-Matic (Hunter Douglas sister company). We chose the product because of its affiliation and the reputation of Hunter Douglas. For anyone that is considering these type of blinds, I suggest starting your search again. There is absolutely NO quality control at shade-o-matic. From what I understand they have moved production from Canada to the US & Mexico. They have already replaced our blinds 3 times (in the span of 4 months) and we are now waiting on the 4th replacement. The dual shades are askew and do not line up i.e. the pattern is crooked. We also splurged on their new operating system ‘Bliss’. Well it’s far from blissful- it’s noisy, squeaky and not what they advertise in their bliss videos. Every time they need to replace the blinds it wastes everyone’s time (including ours) but my biggest upset is that the poor quality control is causing these askew blinds to end up in the landfill. Get your act together Shade-o-matic.

I am disappointed in their warranty. We purchased their Tuscany wood shutters 16 years ago and it came with Lifetime warranty. A few of the connectors linking the louver to the wand broke and they told me it can’t be repaired because the product is discontinued. So now I am stuck with the louvers dangling because they don’t have the parts. They should at least provide alternate parts and not leave the customer with no option!

Shade-O-Matic California shutters are a cheap poor quality product. The cufflinks are made of cheap thin plastic that break very easily. We are 2 adults living in our home and after a few years approximately 1/3 of the cufflinks have snapped. Home Depot advised me they have lots of complaints with this product, I'm not sure why they or anyone would carry it. Shutters look good in the store but they are junk.

Placed a large order of cellular shades. Was very pleased with appearance but after 1/2 year shades mechanism started to be sloppy in operating the blinds. They would not go completely up. Company was contacted and there is a limited warranty on the mechanism. Considering the amount paid, I would expect Bette performance from an item with such a large price tag. Their competitor, Hunter Douglas has a lifetime warranty on mechanism. Definitely would not order Shade o Matic when a superior product is on the market. Then, they do not have a rep to do warranty. The customer must pack up and shop the blinds!!

We had a good experience with Shade-O-Matic shutter manufacturer. Their representative came to our home measured and wrote up the order for us. We had the shutters installed on every window in our house, so it was a big job. There was an ordering error on their part and the wrong product was sent to us, but they compensated us by refunding us 25% and installing all of the shutters for free! That was more than satisfactory for us. We have been pleased with the shutters ever since we got them and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for shutters for their home.
