Rand actually installed my pool 5 years ago. We have used them ever since to do our open and closing. There service use to be good but has started to go down hill fast over the last couple of years. This year was a nightmare. They said they opened the pool and in 3 days my pool was green with algae. I called in and reluctantly someone showed up and said they fixed it. Again 3 days later a green algae filled pool. I called back and was told they were short staffed and didn't know when they could have someone come back, convenient seeing I paid 3 weeks prior. I told them I would have to call another company then and reverse payment, they told me "you have to do what you have to do". I called Clear Blue Pools and had amazing service. They told me my salt water system had never been turned on at all. Regardless of informing Rand of my concerns etc.. Rand sent my bill to a collection agency for sevices I never received. I had to pay another company to fix their bad job. I will never use them again as they obviously do not value loyalty or quality of work. I have researched other pool company's now and realize that Rand is very over priced so I am glad now that this happened to make me more aware. I highly recommend you research other company's before using Rand to save you grief down the way.

Our DE pool filter was clogged, and despite backwashing clogged again after running a few minutes. There was not enough water pressure to allow the heater to work. They cleaned the filter. Everything worked for 15 minutes then same problem. They won't return my calls.

I had a couple of pool companies come in for a quote on pool liner replacement. There was water in behind the liner and there are already patches on the liner. The first company wanted $3700 to replace the liner. Grant from Rand Pools & Spas said we didn't need a new one! Grant's diver came and found my leak one day and had it repaired the next day! Thanks Grant, you will definitely get my business from now on!

Pool heater works great and looks good too. The people that installed it were friendly and cleaned up after themselves too! They were in and out within about 3 1/2 hours and my pool was up to 81degrees Fahrenheit later that afternoon! What a difference!

We had several quotes for a new pool over the past few years. We finally decided to go with Rand Pools and Spas in Pickering as it was a referral from a family member.
We met with Bill who is one of the nicest guys you'll find. He sketched our pool out by hand, and truly maximized the size of pool we could get in a corner of our lot.
Bill's crew was just excellent start to finish. Bruce from NOYE excavation did the digging. He was really friendly, and the hole was dug quickly and precisely. From there Rod and the pool crew came in. They were a fantastic group - and were really professional. From the start of the dig to the water going in the pool was 9 working days. The final phase was when George came to our house to teach us how the pool works. Another really friendly guy. We were so impressed by how smooth everything went.
We can't thank Bill enough for making what could be a very stressful construction go as smoothly as possible.

This service occurred in July 2010. I had been losing water from my 16 x 32ft Inground pool at the rate of an inch or two a day during the summer of 2009. The water loss had increased to approximately 3 inches per day after the pool was opened in June 2010. I knew I had to do something about the water loss as my water bill had increased by almost $200 so I called Rand Pools, who I've dealt with for a number of years. They were able to locate the leak which was under the concrete deck, close to the shallow end water jet. They arrived when they said they would and cut a 1 1/2 square foot hole in the concrete deck, repaired the leaking pool line and then filled the hole in the deck with concrete and covered it so that it would set and dry without causing any safety issues.

The job was completed in one day and the area left clean and tidy. They removed all of the concrete they had removed and any garbage that their repair had created. I was very happy with the speed they completed the job, as well as the price they charged me for work under the concrete deck. I had been expecting a much higher bill for the job they completed. I would not hesitate to have Rand Pools service my pool whenever it becomes necessary again.

I have been a customer of Rand Pools and Spas for over 10 years. Every time I go in the store I am greeted with a friendly "hello" and "how can we help you today?". I am extremely confident in taking their advice as I have found that the employees are very knowledgeable (and not to mention trustworthy compared to other pool companies). I definitely recommend this company for any pool service and/ or chemical needs.

We had a Rand pool installed in 1990 and everything went great. We had dealt with them in Scarboro with out pool there and no complaints. When we moved east of Oshawa, only used them once (due to distance), to fix a leak in liner, but all was fine. No complaints and no further leaks.
Have dealt with various companies in Durham region since, some don't call back, one returned the Kreepy that was the problem, with no comment, still did't work.
The company that did the opening, left a mess and never contacted me even tho I went in to complain. Took me 2 months and about $500 in chemicals to get the water clear, even tho it tested perfect chemically.
Another came, couldn't find the problem even tho I had explained clearly, left without even telling me - no bill tho.
Am looking for good company for closing then opening again in spring so will check the reviews

Thought the installation service was good in the beginning...tried to use Ajax pool store and found the staff to be unhelpful, RUDE and poor at communication. Continued to use the service to open and close my pool.
Then 4 years after the pool was installed, the water level dropped 3 inches every night. Called and was told we are very busy and cannot see the pool for 5 days. Without notice some Rand pool hand came and saw the pool and left a note that nothing was found. No followup from Ajax store. I called in a local pool company, they listened thru the concrete deck with a scope and found multiple leaks thru the piping. After digging they replaced all the piping and left the old pipes as 'discussion' points for Rand. Rand had installed all the piping on top of the steel wall supports incorrectly. The pipes cracked where they made contact with the supports. This is sloppy installation and we are dependent on the expertise and professionalism of the installer. It was not due to improper closing since the crack were directed over the supports but nowhere else. When I called back owner dismissed my emergency actions to hire another company as reason to reject responsibility for the initial poor installation even though he agreed that 'total plumbing failure is rare, it should last 10 years but we warranty for a year'. This cost $5k to repair and ruined our summer.

I have dealt with the company for over 10 years and though I have used other companies with lower prices at times, I always return to this company because of the quality of their service, the trust I can place in them and how knowledgeable they are. Their prices tend to be on the slightly high side of average, but I can trust them to do what they say they will without incident. All of my pool equipment has been purchased from them and any warranty work has been done without a problem. They have been in business for many years and deserve the good reputation they enjoy.
