Washer and Dryer

When our washing machine broke down, we decided it was time to purchase a new washer and dryer set. We shopped around to all the big box stores, some online stores, and even some scratch and dent places. Our dryer is gas so we were limited on what was out there and the sales that the big box stores had 'never' had an option for a gas dryer. My wife wanted a large capacity front load and we decided that Whirlpool or Maytag would fit our requirements. We further decided on the Whirlpool as it was on sale.
After searching high and low, I decided to pay Quan's in Concord a visit..after all this is where we purchased our original appliances. Darren took care of use very well and was able to rush us the appliances.
They were offering a 5 year parts and labour warranty as part of their sale and their prices were really good.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Give a call the day of delivery on the approximate time of delivery. No body wants to wait in limbo for a day for a delivery that takes about an hour. But it's like that with 99% of delivery guys.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Research, research, research. Do your homework and understand the features before you go into stores. There are so many options with different manufacturers. We chose Whirlpool (which bought Maytaf) as the workhorses for washers and dryers. They've been in the market for the longest time. If you can, go gas dryer. It saves money and heats up instantly. Gas dryers are really big in Europe and can't understand why anybody would go electric in Canada. We chose the steam option for the dryer only...it saved us about $400. They say a steam washer removes hard to remove stains but the jury is still out on that one. My wife uses Shout and works just fine. We chose the steam feature on the dryer to remove wrinkles when the laundry sits in there a while.
