When the time comes to change your roof you have to do your homework before choosing the right contractor and materials. I searched the internet, asked friends and neighbors, read the reviews. I collected quotes from 5 different roofing companies including Avenue Road roofing, Alpine roofing, Wow Roofing, Carl R roofing, and Juffs roofing.
Some companies were cheaper than others, but none of them had provided me with such a professional approach as Juffs. Every single item had been included in the quote:
Material selection for the base layer, shingle selection and proper shingle type, vent size, vent type and quantity based on the roof size and configuration, etc...
The Company representative, Mr. Shay Barat, certified roof specialist, had explained the proper way the roof needs to be installed.
Juffs uses only one crew, no temporary people from agencies, so it guaranties quality installation. Yes, Juffs is not the cheapest roofing company - but I’m paying for the quality and headache free roof!
The job had been done on time and very professionally.

After a rain storm my roof that was only 3 years old had developed a leak that caused alot of damage to the inside of my house.I called a number of roofers but it was a chalenge to get any one to call me back.I finally found another company that would come and assess the roof and out of desperation i agreeed to proceed with the repair in 2 days.Thats when i called and spoke to Mike from Juffs roofing who explainned to me what Juffs Roofing poliy was and that is to fix it right the first time properly and not do a patch job.He had my attention with his professionalism and after asked me to speak to Stephen who explainned to me in detail what he thought was wrong with my roof and what was causing the leak.I was impressed that he had a very good idea of he problem with my explaination and had agreed to come look at the roof the next morning at 6.30 am.Ater looking at the roof he diagnoised the problem as he did before he saw it.This gentlemen Stephen really puts faith back in the renovation bussness. Pictures were taken step by step showing me the problems and what was done to repair them.I think all 3 gentlemen that i spoke to and met were truely profesional and true to their word thanks again Mike,Stephen and Jason.

Three autumns ago I paid a fortune to have a new roof installed on my house, and when the first thaw arrived, the lighting fixture above my front door became the conduit for a stream of dirty water. The roofer came by and refused to fix it, citing “problems” not of his making….the spouts were wrong, the shape of the roof promoted leakage, the gutters incorrect...blah, blah, blah.

In the interim, I have had numerous companies futilely attempt to correct this problem...to no avail.

Homestar was introduced to me by a friend, and through their website, I contacted Juffs. I spoke to Steve on Wednesday, a gentleman came to evaluate the problem on Thursday, and was back early Friday morning to repair it. He was knowledgable, hardworking and friendly.

On Sunday we had a downpour, and in the midst of it, our doorbell rang. A few moments later, with jaw agape, and eyes wide in amazement...my husband stumbled into the room sputtering...."You won't believe it...but the man who fixed the roof on Friday actually just came by to make sure there was no further leakage! Where on earth did you find this company??? We MUST recommend them to EVERYONE!!!!"

....and we are doing just that......

Upon inspecting a leak that had formed from a damaged shingle, we noticed the roof above our 2nd floor bathroom had rotted so that it sagged. This was very concerning since our roof was only 8 years old. In total, I had 4 roofing companies look at the problem, but Juffs was the only roofing company who did a proper assessment of the cause and took the time to explain potential solutions. And, they were very quick to respond...I called Steve at Juffs on a Monday morning, he came with his team Monday afternoon, assessed the situation, met with me and showed me pictures and proceeded with the work the next day. The job was performed very thoroughly, the wood was replaced, new foam insulation was installed, and an electrician that Juffs brought-in installed a bathroom fan. Juffs was very responsive, and I found Steve to be very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. All in all, I'm very satisfied with Juffs and the work they performed, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I called Juffs to take a look at my roof. 3 of the 4 sides were in terrible shape. The only side that wasn't was the side that Juffs had done some 8 years earlier to fix a leak on the original roof which was just 6 years old. I had 4 quotes done and Juffs was competitive. What impressed me was that Juffs quote was the most complete detailed of all the quotes. Steve was very impressive in terms of his knowledge and his ability to explain the situation. The crew at Juffs came did the job, replaced the rotted plywood and cleaned up the site thoroughly which is extremely important if you have young kids like I do. And by the way, the side that Juffs repaired those many years ago, well, all the other companies told me that the roof had 10+ years left on it. Juffs also followed up promptly with warranty documents and customer service surveys. Real professional service.

In 2000, we really thought we needed a full blown roof replacement. We called 3 roofers, including the "Enbridge-approved" contractor, who came to inspect and provide an estimate. The "Enbridge-approved" contractor did not even get up on the roof to do a proper inspection. One of the others did - one didn't. All were quick to agree that we needed a new roof: approx. cost $4-5K. A good friend at work insisted that I call Juffs Roofing before we made any commitment. I did, and was I ever glad that I did. I was fortunate that the owner, Mike Juff, carried out the very detailed inspection - he and I both went up on the roof where he took digital photos and showed me some areas that needed attention. He clearly stated that we did NOT need a new roof, but rather a "tune-up" at a fraction of the cost. He even made both of us go into the attic to check out the roof timber. I was so impressed with his candor that I promised whenever we DID need a new roof, that I would call no one else.
I have just called Steve at Juffs for another inspection - 8 YEARS LATER!!! So, Mike was certainly correct that we did not need a new roof in 2000!!

Juff's Roofing redid our roof in September of 2007 to our great satisfaction. We had contacted six reputable Toronto roofing companies and researched the materials, the techniques and the customer feedback on them. What we really appreciated was the thorough manner in which Steve dealt with our questions and explained the various choices we had. We agreed on a roof, its substructure, soffits and troughs.

The removal of the old shingles brought to light several areas where the previous roofers had botched the job and which needed repair. Juff's team did a great job of removing everything old, installing a waterproof barrier followed by properly spaced shingles. We had poor rain drainage from the roof previously and the addition of LeafDefier in the troughs really seems to have made the drainage more controlled. I no longer have to climb to the roof to clean the troughs every fall.

The violent winds of the past winter undid part of the soffit fascia - Juffs sent someone to carry out the repairs. In July, Toronto broke a 20-year record of rainfall for the summer and through it all, our new roof and troughs performed very well. Highly recommended.

Juffs just completed a new roof on my large bungalow and it looks great!

I got quite a few estimates and they were the only contractor who provided a thorough quote which included metal drip edge, Deck-Armor, and very nice CertainTeed shingles. They will explain to you how a roof should properly be done (they will even show you a roofing manual) and then they do it. They also identified and fixed poor ventilation and deck problems with my roof.

Working with them was an enjoyable experience. Everyone that I spoke to in the company from the sales guy, to the office lady, and the roofing crew was a pleasure to deal with. You definitely get the impression that this company takes great pride in their adherence to doing things right.

Juffs Roofing did an excellent job! They were very approachable, reliable, punctual and thorough. We were very happy with the results and two and a half years later, when we called for a quick and small touch-up, Steve and co. were at our door within 2 hours! After reporting a leak from my flat roof into our living room at Christmas to Juff's, Steve Meltz arranged for emergency repairs within 2 days, even under trying snow and ice conditions. After analyzing the root cause, Steve came up with a detailed proposal to add an angled support roof over our flat roof, which would eliminate any ongoing heavy snow/ice rain conditions.
Since I had planned to have our eavestroughs replaced and siding added in the near future anyway, Steve factored all of these different materials and work into his proposal, and did a great job in coordinating the different crews in early January. All the work crews were terrific, and even did extra cosmetic work for us when requested. I would recommend Juff's Roofing without any reservations.
