Experience was excellent from start to finish!

Mother-in-Law died mid-April in Oakville and we live in Nova Scotia; her apartment had to be vacated within a month. Once it was determined that a dozen large pieces of fine oak furniture were to be relocated to our daughter in Enfield NS, I emailed a number of companies.
GCVL was the first to respond -- When I got the reply from Kathy at just after 11:00 Atlantic time, and realised that the company was based in Vancouver, I was immediately impressed that this is a company that wants to do business right across the country. My perception of great service was reinforced every step of the way: They kept us informed, immediately provided an accurate estimate and told us they had a 1000 lb minimum.
Their "14 steps" document proved to be very useful, as we had not had a commercial move in 40 years!
Within a few days they had confirmed a pickup date and worked around the tight schedule required for the elevator at the seniors' home -- only being available away from resident's meal times -- basically 2pm to 4pm.
They took careful note of all the parties' involved phone numbers and were conscientious in calling in good time before both pickup and delivery. Everything was packed/wrapped carefully and the loading and unloading was done cheerfully and expeditiously.
Delivery occurred on the first day of their estimated window, in spite of the serious flooding in New Brunswick which entailed a long detour for the truck because of the closure of the Trans Canada Highway.

It's rare these days to find a company that is so easy to deal with and performs so well at every stage.

I have absolutely no reservation in recommending GCVL to everyone

The move was accomplished with 2 weeks to spare.

service

The entire procedures were carried out with prompt and courteous services from A to Z ( booking to unloading). All of the items being shifted and delivered safe and sound on time and the employees were very friendly and efficient.

There were no stresses involved at all while under- go and the company delivered the service beyond my expectation.
The rate was very reasonable too.

I highly recommend this company to everyone!!

Many thanks!

Worst Movers Ever

I wish I would have come across they horrible reviews before I booked these Yahoos to do a move. They'll tell you what you want to hear over the phone and take your money, but when they damage YOUR items they will deny, use every little trick in the book (read their contracts carefully) to not pay out a claim. We had various glassware, furniture and a 3000k TV dropped and broken. They went through our personal items, opened boxes. They have zero accountability, integrity and a useless claims department. They should not be in business nor should be handling peoples personal belongings.

You have been warned - there many better moving companies out there. Avoid this one at all cost!

We have checked with our Claims Department and we don't have a client who has submitted a claim which includes a damaged TV, glassware and furniture. This review is done by a private user so we can't search our client database either.
Our Customer Service Department can be reached at 1-800-665-0055 or you have submitted your review for the wrong company.

moving

Great Canadian Van Lines did a great job moving our stuff from BC to Ontario. The packers were very friendly, efficient and helpful pointing things out with regards to the process and other related items. The driver (Edmonton based) Ima who moved our entire stuff over was very courteous and let us know when he would arrive. The whole process was professional to me and I wouldn’t hesitate doing my move again.

Long distance move from Quebec to Vancouver

GCVL arrived on time, were pleasant, courteous and very efficient. Nothing was damaged in the move which amazing as everything had to moved into a smaller truck to access our new townhouse, so basically everything was moved 3 times. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

Perfect move from Surrey to Downtown Windsor

Bill and company arrived on time. Shipped an entire single detached house worth of furniture across the country and delivered it to downtown Windsor in perfect condition.

We had some very expensive furniture from Bombay and it arrived in mint condition. Move from Surrey to Windsor was flawless and I would use their services again.

Kathy was also helpful throughout the process and was awake 7:30 in the morning to provide us an update of arrival time.

Moving from Kelowna to Vancouver

The company we hired in Kelowna sub-contracted part of the shipping to Great Canadian Van Lines. When some items arrived damaged it was quickly determined that it was not Great Canadian Van Lines fault but the other company was uncooperative. However GCVL was great from the moment I contacted them. Shout out to Jane for the excellent customer services and for sorting out our claim. Class act.

Household items move from BC to Manitoba

We moved from Vancouver to Winnipeg and felt we were taken care of very well by these folks. They were quick to come provide a quote, and were able to take care of all of our needs, including the car shipping. In the end, the price was significantly higher than the quoted price, but we expected that... we had a lot of books and records to ship.

Amar was the driver and he was totally excellent! Very professional, personable, and funny. Our items all arrived in perfect shape and the team in Winnipeg were incredibly fast and hard working. All in all very satisfied.
