Thank you Ming for contacting Gas Fix to service your two Montigo fireplaces. In many circumstances, a proper clean and check to a fireplace unit can resolve many issues. Many contractors will clean the glass and light the pilot but as you noted, we are thorough and prepared for whatever we come across. Not only do we vacuum out the units but we also take an air compressor to it to get to places the vacuum cannot. We also carry over 300+ of the most common parts on the vehicle so when parts are required, such as the new gasket and ON/OFF switch, we have them on our vehicle. We also take safety seriously which is why we always check the safety on the gas valve, do a carbon monoxide test and draft test on the ventilation. Thank you for Mrs. G for your review as we do appreciate your feedback. However, you don't tell the whole story in your review.

You told us that you didn't want a service call. Then, you told us it was a gas fireplace that you did not want or need. You don't want/need the fireplace but it's cold and not working after YOU shut the pilot off in the spring. We routinely advise customers to keep the pilot on as it deters spiders, which is the most common issue that we see with fireplaces.

Your prior gas fireplace was an Instaflame FSDV30TN. The Technical Standards and Safety Authority issued a Director's Safety Order#FS-195-12 in September 2012 and a Director's Public Safety Order #FS-222-2016 in November 2016 to indicate that those fireplaces shall not be sold, leased, rented, installed or USED in Ontario. It's because that unit was not safe. Also, as the manufacturer (CFM) is no longer in business, there is no retrofit repair for the unit. It can only be replaced as per the TSSA.

Further, we explained the warranty process in detail for you. We were prepared to go out on a service call under warranty for the current fireplace but you were not satisfied with the time frame provided. Unfortunately, we are booking three weeks out now and you wanted same day service that unfortunately we could not do. You were the combative one in the conversation as soon as it was mentioned that we could book a call for the 15th. We tried to book a service call for you but you became abusive to our staff.

Last, we have a zero tolerance when it comes to people being abusive to our staff. You told our staff member that he could go "F" himself first and that you were going to get him fired. We do not condone the type language used by our staff and we do apologize for that. However, it is not acceptable to be verbally abusive and combative to our staff.

At Gas Fix, we strive to provide quality service and care to all our clients. Unfortunately, there are circumstances where no matter how hard we try, it becomes clear that this is not possible. All the best to you and your family. ~ GAS FIX ~

Thank you Ms. E for your review. We appreciate your feedback even if you're wrong in your assessment. FIRST - In reviewing the telephone calls to our office, our staff was not rude to you. Rather, you were the rude person. You were rude, argumentative and dismissive. It was hard for Scott to complete a sentence when you continually cut him off. SECOND - We originally serviced the Jandy LJ pool heater on August 2nd. It was determined that the unit required many parts to repair. We returned on the 24th of September to install the Hot Surface Ignitor and a new burner. It was also determined at the time that you required a control board. As we specialize in the repair and maintenance of pool heaters and gas fireplaces, we carry over 300+ of the most common pool heater and fireplace parts on our service vehicles. We had the hot surface ignitor, burner and control board to do the repair and could have completed the repair that day. However, your issue boiled down to pricing. Gas Fix cannot compete on pricing with these big box stores that have large warehouses and can bring in truckloads of parts. But those companies cannot compete with our service and because we carry parts, we CAN take care of our customers the same day. You may not want to recommend us but please note, our diagnostic and assessment of your unit was correct. THIRD - You spent $804.76 with Gas Fix replacing the burner and ignitor. Then, you spend another $400 for a control board with Toronto Pool Supplies. How much more are you going to sink into this unit? You should have taking our recommendation on a new heater considering the amount of money you spent on a repair. What part is going to fail next? Many contractors that come across a 10+ year old heater will just try to sell you a new one because they don't know how to fix it or because they don't carry parts. We carry over 300+ of the most common parts on our service vehicles. Dwayne had the ON/OFF switch, the pilot assembly and pilot tube required to complete the repair of your pool heater.
