Thank you Marissa and Luigi for your review. In over thirty-five years, we find that most problems are related to communication. In this circumstance, there is a language barrier which makes clear/concise communication difficult. We would like to clarify some points that are not noted in your review.
On September 29, 2017 at 12:31 PM, MARISSA called Gas Fix and spoke with our administrator, Victoria. There was no mention from Marissa that this was a referral from Bob or Mark. Neither person was mentioned. She booked a service call with Gas Fix to have the fireplace serviced on October 2, 2017 with an arrival time between 12 and 2 PM. Victoria advised Marissa, in detail, on costs. She advised her that it was $94 to dispatch our technician plus labour at $96 per hour. We cannot quote on parts as we don’t know what is required, if anything, though our technicians do carry over 300+ of the most common parts on their vehicle.
To say our technician was impersonating Mark is false. If true, why would he give you a business card with his name on it? Our understanding was that Mark was the person who referred you to Gas Fix. Again, upon booking the call on September 29, Marissa made no mention of Bob OR Mark to our administration staff.
We identified the issue with your Continental fireplace - which Marissa misidentified as a Majestic - as a venting issue and issued a Union Gas infraction notice indicating the fireplace and/or piping is unsafe and the gas supply to the unit was shut off. If we could have had access to the roof, our technician could have provided additional information in regards to the ventilation issue your gas fireplace was having.
When we advise customers of an infraction issue, there are two responses. The customer is appreciative that we advised on an unsafe condition & took steps to correct it. The second response is frustration and that gets directed towards our staff. Your frustration is reflected in your review.
As the former accountant for the six condo buildings and clubhouse at Bishops Gate, I would recommend that when you have any issue with your condominium unit, you should contact the Property Manager or Management Office to find out if they can recommend one of their preferred vendors.

Thank you for contacting Gas Fix to service your gas fireplace. As we specialize in the repair and maintenance of gas fireplaces, we provide a service that is hard for other contractors to match. First, we keep the work space neat and clean with the blankets that we put down. Our TSSA licensed technicians will vacuum out the fireplace and blow out the burners and pilot assembly with a small air compressor to remove dust, debris and blockages. We check all electrical components as required and detail the information on the back of the invoice on our Inspection Report. Standards of a clean & check include cleaning the glass, checking the gasket and fan, and checking the unit on start-up. On any fireplace that our technicians service, they will always check the safety on the gas valve, do a draft test on the ventilation and a carbon monoxide test. Our TSSA licensed technicians provide a more thorough, professional service. Aside from a proper detailed cleaning, our technicians always check the safety on the gas valve, do a draft test on the ventilation and a carbon monoxide test. As noted, we checked out that unit on four occasions with a major repair to the unit in 2015 when it required a new pilot assembly and thermostat. Fortunately, you got 15 years from that heater. We also appreciate that you chose Gas Fix to supply and install the new Raypak heater. As we provide warranty services and are a TSSA licensed contractor, we follow the gas code and manufacturer's specification providing a competitive price in the process. Some of the other organizations out there do not provide the service we provide. Not only does Gas Fix provide the gas function of the install but we also handle the plumbing aspect and can transfer the electrical as well when required. We find that when a homeowner is selling their house, it's a smart idea to have appliances checked out as it usually becomes a condition of sale to have, for example, the pool heater or gas fireplace operating properly. Our administrators can usually schedule a service call within 24 to 72 hours as we have done. As we try to be a different contractor from the competition, our technicians, like Scott, are prepared. That is why we carry over 300+ of the most common parts on the service vehicle. When a part is required, like the temperature sensor you required, we can complete the service call on the same day.
