Installation of fixtures and plumbing

As a designer I hired Matthew for a few projects including a renovation of a 7000 sq ft home. The talk was great and the excuses were even better. Even though our reno was not completed, we hired him on another job as well.
He installed the hot and cold in opposite directions. Upon calling him on this, he stated that they are European fittings and that is the reason. So we had to cut the wall open to correct the problem. Upon doing this we noticed that there was a this way up arrow, pointing to the floor. So after cutting open two bathrooms at a clients....AT OUR EXPENCE.. He did the repair.
Upon calling hime for the same problem for the four bathrooms in our home he said he would take care of it. Sure enough, he was a no show. Then after some time, he left a message that he had medical problems and the company has been shut down.
So here I am in the cold, with HORRIFIC workmanship and he has stated he is out of business.
Oddly enough, I have passed him in his Van and seen him around town on jobs.
Like I said....GOOD TALK !!!! TOO BAD IT IS ALL EXCUSES AND B.S. !!!!!!!!!

I would watch out for this one !!!

replacing galvanized pipes with copper

Matthew and his team were fast, efficient and thorough. The only blip was that a lead drainage pipe was nicked by one of the team when cutting into the basement ceiling and it had to be repaired so that it didn't leak.

A bonus was they also repaired the drywall, sealed and sanded it; ready for painting.

Emergency Leakage

We had water leaking from what seemed like the upstairs bathroom, down into the living room. When it turned out to be a leaky radiator from the upstairs bedroom instead, Matthew subtracted the original cost of fixing the toilet from the final price. He was extremely professional, prompt, courteous, and knowledgable. He always showed up on time, always answered his phone, and was happy to answer any questions I had. An honourable fellow.

plumbing

We had problem scheduling time with Day and son. They were also hard to reach certain times. So I see why the previous rater gave them a 1 in this catergory.

The quality was definitely not poor but we worked with better plumber.

The price is definitely one of the cheaper quote out of the five quote we have got.

I give it a 3 (a little above) average for the overall experience.

Company Response

My father is retiring. For the last 5 years he has handled the small jobs so I am free to take care of our larger projects. I try to keep everyone happy but I do give priority to my large projects so some of the smaller jobs may get rebooked. I will try to find a service Plumber I can trust on these smaller jobs. Call me @ 416-823-8821 if I havent contacted you.

pipe drainage problem/replacement

Don't believe everything you read!!!
There was no problem getting someone out when I told the wife who books the jobs that I trusted their glowing reviews and just wanted our plumbing problem properly repaired.
Our cheque was promptly cashed a day after the repair and two days later when our plumbing problems persisted, our repeated phone calls were responded to by hangups and voicemails were unanswered.
Finally when we were able to catch them answering their phone, we were led to beleive that they would return two days later to rectify the problem, but that did not happen.
Luckily a cell phone call had been made to us when they first came out, that displayed our serviceman's number. This enabled us to make contact with our apologetic plumber who returned and corrected the problem.

Complete plumbing replacement

I hired Matthew to redo the plumbing in my 1917-built semi-detached house. Out came the original iron, lead and copper, and in went PEX and ABS. Matt did a great job in a timely fashion, ensuring that my design plans were feasible. He also made some recommendations that really helped in terms of fixture type and location. Pricing was unbeatable - his price was half of what I was quoted from three Beach area plumbers. All work was done professionally, to code, and very timely. To top it off, he recommended that I replace the original feed pipe to the city and the drains - quoted me a VERY reasonable price, then took care of arranging for the city rebate. When he ran into some complications, he didn't charge extra, even though it took more time than expected. Matt is a pleasure to deal with - down to earth, no-nonsense, yet friendly and helpful. His flexibility in terms of scheduling was also a plus. I will (and have) recommend(ed) Day and Son to any of my family, friends or neighbours.

Lowering Mainline

Day and Son have done work for us in the past (everything from replacing taps to sump pumps) and they have always gone the extra mile, which always seems to happened with our little old house. Recently they replaced the mainline to our house, as well as lowering it. This was done quickly and on budget, even though there were a few unforeseen “challenges” with our old plumbing.

I have used them in them past and I will use them in the future. Highly recommended.

Plumbing work was done due to an emergency on Sunday. They arrived at the exact time they said they would. The price was great and the work was very well done!

Complete Installation of New Pipes & Drains

Matthew replaced all galvanized steel pipes and lead drain pipes in our 1930s bungalow, installed new PEX pipes and ABS drains, new valves and faucets in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room, a new thermostat tub and shower set, a dishwasher and a hot water heater with a recirculation pump. Matthew is a professional: he had excellent ideas for redesigning our plumbing system, gave reasonable and very accurate quotes, used high quality materials and did very neat work. He gives a 5-year warranty on his installations and makes sure that they conform to Ontario's plumbing code. We are happy with our new plumbing system and are looking forward to working with Day and Son on our next plumbing projects: the replacement of the main drain and the installation of two new bathrooms.
