Complete bathroom renovation

Ill be honest. My wife and I had consulted two, bathroom renovation companies and one contractor before we even considered that the Bathtub King might be an option. It was almost as an afterthought that we contacted them. We wanted to see what they had to say. What a fortuitous decision that was. We made an appointment, Frederick came down to see the bathroom late on a Friday morning, discussed with us and noted our requirements, and said he would get back to us with an estimate early the following week. On Tuesday we were invited to their showroom and Alisha, along with Frederick, had laid out three sets of options. Each had a suggested ceramic floor tile, cabinet and sink-top, and cultured marble for the shower. Unbeknownst to them, we had already picked out a floor tile. That was no problem, and they adjusted their suggestions to harmonize with our tile. Alisha is real expert decorator. She knows her stock well. We made our selection, picked out a faucet for the sink and shower hardware, Bathtub King prepared a final estimate, and we said we would think about it.
This was all done before we received estimates from the two renovation companies we had contacted earlier. One eliminated themselves when they said they wanted over $800 just to come to our home to take measurements and offer design suggestions. They also said the job would take four to six weeks. The other reno company did provide an estimate, but the choices given on a software program that only provided b/w photos were not of the quality we were seeking, and there was no breakdown of the construction costs. There was on the Bathtub King estimate. Two weeks after seeing our bathroom, the contractor still had not provided an estimate. We finally told him not to bother. What we really liked about the Bathtub King was that they broke down their estimate into component parts giving costs for the demolition and subsequent replacement materials. Most importantly, they dont schedule and start a job until all the material for the renovation is in-house. They start and finish a job without any delays.
Several weeks later, my wife and I went back to the Bathtub King showroom and discussed with Alisha some of the changes we wanted to make. We eliminated a few things and upgraded the shower fixtures. Gary, the project manager, prepared a new estimate. We booked them to do the job and gave them a downpayment that covered one third of the cost. They contacted us about a month later and scheduled the renovation for a month after that. They said the reno would take a week and a half or eight working days.
It is my understanding that Bathtub King has four different crews working for them. We had Ryan, the expert builder, Marco the plumber and Angelo the painter. None are employees of Bathtub King, all are subcontracted, but dont let that worry you. Bathtub King has kept Ryan so busy that he hasnt worked for anyone else for over twenty years.

Work started on a Monday morning. Ryan and a helper showed up and completely gutted the bathroom that first day. Our bathroom is small, roughly 4 ½ X 6 ½ feet, and the main reason for the reno was to remove the bulkhead and our original, 70-year-old, steel tub and install a walk-in shower. On day 2, Ryan installed the shower base and Marco roughed in all the plumbing. For the next five days, it was Ryans show, and what a job he did. He put up all the wallboard (Denshield) and prepared it for painting. Before the weekend he laid the tile floor so it could cure for a few days. He put up the cultured marble panels on the ceiling and around the shower area that were cut to precision. He installed the sliding shower doors, grab bar and shower seat, new floor moulding, a new wall vent, the medicine cabinet and the vanity with its quartz top. Most remarkable was what Ryan did to the window that was in the shower area. Not only did he reframe it in cultured marble, but he also framed the inside of the window as well. It was a piece of virtuoso craftmanship. People that have seen it since just shake their heads in astonishment.
Angelo painted the bathroom on the morning of day 8. He used his own primer, but we bought the paint we wanted to use for the final coat. Marco was supposed to finish the plumbing that afternoon, but he ran into a complication on the job he was doing. He apologized and asked if he could come early the next morning to install the toilet and hook up the fixtures, which he did. Gary dropped in several times to make sure that the work was progressing smoothly.
Ryan knows what he hopes to accomplish each day. If its done by 1:30, then that is it for that day. If it takes until 5:00, he stays until 5:00. One word of warning; Ryan does not like customers standing over his shoulder watching him work. If the bathroom door does not have to be removed, it will probably be shut. You can look at what he has done after he leaves for the day and on the weekend. Let him do his thing. You will be ecstatic with the final result. I dont care who it is, no one, and I mean no one, will do a better job. You cant improve upon perfection.
My wife and I could not be happier with our new bathroom. What was achieved in nine days was simply amazing. The quality of the materials and the craftmanship were exquisite. Dont make our mistake. Look to the Bathtub King first. Do your due diligence if you like, get another estimate or two, but I can almost guarantee that you will go back to the Bathtub King. The best testimonial I can give comes from my nephew who was also looking to have his bathroom renovated. When he saw our finished bathroom, he called the Bathtub King the next day and said: I want the same thing as them. Of course, he chose different patterns and colours, but the Bathtub King will be doing his bathroom sometime in the Fall.

Bathtub refinishing

We had a technician come and reglaze the main bathroom bathtub. Then he came back and recaulked it.
The end resault has been, that we have a white bathtub with tiny bubbles some inside, some outside, the track for the glass doors on the tub are gone, and a washer for the shower head is missing, so we can’t use it, and I have to hire another contractor to come in and fix it.
I would never use this company again.

Bathtub reglazing

I have used Bathtub King twice to reglaze two of my tubs. The first time was approx 15 years ago! Yes! Their job was so good that it lasted that long! They turned our old pink and green tubs into beautiful white tubs that looked like new! They were fast, efficient, and taped and covered everything. They stand behind their product and workmanship and I am so pleased with them. Highly recommend this company!

Bathroom Renovation

We had a small, existing shower stall replaced and made much larger. The results were outstanding and we were very pleased. The entire renovation could not have been any smoother. Dennis helped us with ideas and materials and was extremely knowledgeable and patient as we made decisions. Their showroom was helpful when we were choosing materials. We were told how long it would be before the renovation could be done. Once it started, there were no delays. The removal of the old shower, and the electrician, plumber, and tiler all came as needed. The new shower was usable within about 10 days. The results are beautiful and functional! We will definitely use this company again as we have trust in their professionalism, integrity and workmanship. They do so much more than bathtub refinishing!

Bathroom Renovation

We had our shower enlarged and completely replaced. The work was done on time and on budget and looks incredible. It ties in with the rest of the bathroom. Dennis gave us great ideas and helped us pick materials. The workmen (tiler, plumber, electrician) came in as needed with no delays so the project was done and the shower usable within about 10 days. The tiling work was exceptional and the tile is beautiful. The lighting and plumbing fixtures were updated and we have custom glass doors. We had a "floating bench" installed with a bullnose edge. We are really enjoying the new shower! We would highly recommend this company. It has far greater scope than bathtub refinishing!

2 Bathtub conversions & 3 new toilets

Converted our tub in our main bathroom to a stand-up shower as my wife has some disabilities that make it difficult to step over the side of our tub. Saw an ad in the local newspaper for Bathtub King showing exactly what we wanted done. Owner (Dennis) was very professional and gave some excellent advise on what we would need. Didn’t try and push us to expensive options, only what we needed. We also took out a dangerous step-up for the tub in our ensuite so again my wife could take a bath safely. Thirdly we upgraded our 3 toilets since they were the originals from 25 years ago when the house was built. 2 of the toilets had a “toilevator” added to the bottoms to elevate them for her to help with her bad knees. The contractors he sent in to do the tub, plumbing, and marble (in the main shower) were excellent. Showed up on time when they said they would, put down tarps on the floors to keep things clean, and cleaned up everything when they were done. A great experience from start to finish. I’d recommend them to anyone who needs to upgrade or alter their bathrooms.

Bathtub reglazing

On April 2, 2015 I had Bathtub King come in to my house to re-glaze my tub. At that time I advised them that the tile walls of the tub had been painted and I didn't want to have to redo them. I was advised that they would be careful and it shouldn't be a problem. (To be fair to Bathtub King, there were two little spots that I had to touch up but I definitely did not want to have to redo the all the walls.) When the tub was done there was paper and plastic taped all over my wallpaper, my bathroom wall tiles, my mirror, the toilet and basically everything in the bathroom. I was told it must stay overnight and that I would have to remove it the next day. I told the installer right then that this concerned me since I had used the same type of tape previously and it had taken off the paint when I had being painting and I didn't want to be responsible for any damage caused by the tape or anything else. The installer advised that this was really good tape and their procedure and it that was the way it had to be done and there would be no damage. Arguing with him didn't do any good.

The next morning I very carefully removed the tape and the paper and plastic. Not only did the tape take off the paint on my tile walls in a number of places there was paint missing where there was no tape. There was also tape residue on my wallpaper. I Bathtub King and the installer came back. When I pointed out the problem the first thing that came our of his mouth was "I'm not redoing your walls". He then said he would touch it up and when I returned to the room he had put blotches of his bright white paint all over the off while tiles. Now they looked like polka dots...just terrible. He said the tiles would have to be etched and redone at a cost of somewhere around $1500-$1900. I FELT COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF!!
After he left I looked over the tub again and the bottom of the tub was all rough and bumpy, there was caulking stuck to the bottom of the tub which I was afraid to scrap off. There was also caulking on the toilet and the floor.

I swore I would never have Bathtub King in my house again. I called another company who was recommended by a friend and they will reglaze the tub and the tiles for less than Bathtub King would have fixed the tiles.

I called the Bathtub King office a second time to ask for my money back and they have no managers or supervisors you can talk to there is only the receptionist to speak to. She advised me that I would not get my money back.

I would never use this company again and I would warn anyone who wants their tub re-glazed to call around and get another company or get a reference from a friend. I had used Bathtub King 14 many years ago and they did an excellent job so I felt comfortable calling them again. Either they are under new ownership/management now or their installers are not properly trained to do the job so DON'T USE BATHTUB KING.

shower

We had the bathtub removed and a new tiled shower installed. The
work was done to our satisfaction and then some. They kept the place clean and tidy while the work was being done, and left it that way when they finished. Very good communication between the people doing the job and us. We would recommend them to others. I should add..the cost of the job was high because we selected an expensive shower head ($1700.00)

They tiled our bathroom, replaced the countertop and re-glazed the tub. Happy with all of the work except the reglazing which has dulled. However, the company is great for service and have offered me a cleaner to bring the the tub finish back to life.
