Finishing of basement

My husband and I are extremely happy with the finishing of our basement, by Basement Experts. Stan was a pleasure to work with and was always very prompt to answer any questions, resolve any issues and ensure that we were satisfied.

Approximate cost of services:
$30,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Have more full time employees, rather than contracting out some parts of the project. Ie: painting, plumbing etc. This would ensure fewer instances in which the customer would have to wait for trades people to be available. It would also allow Stan to be sure the trades people would be working to his high standard of service.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Stan was great to work with. However I felt one or two of the trades people that were used, needed to be monitored to ensure the quality of work. Stan was EXTREMELY accomodating of this in making sure we were happy with the work that was completed throughout the project. Thanks Stan!

Company Response

Sarah & Antony's 600sq.ft. basement had some interesting features. The rear elevaton is at ground level. The buidler probaly offered a walk slider as an upgrade but the first purchasers didn't get this. However there was an exising window that allowed the opeing to be enlarged to accomidate an exterior door with a window side light without digging down below grade. Uncommon- but it does happen- made a huge difference to the feel, light & usability of the basement space. Antony ( yes Antony not Anthony) is in the electonics business. His vision included custom fitted shelves under the stairway for compontents. The big screen sits above. We also created rear niches in the back wall to accomidate his surround sound speaker. Also created a combination laundry room /furnace room that is bright with a window. Sarah sourced this avant gaurd looking curtain thing which we installted supended from the ceiling to separate the furnace & HWT from the laundry (tiled) area. We also managed to jam in Antony's Canadian tire special work bench- behind the curtain. Sounds like a trailer park design- but it looks & works great. Finished with nice berber/sisal carpet, decorative covers on the two exposed posts- lots of pots & the whole basement is really nice. oh yea- I give these clients an 8.5 rating.
