Thank-you for your review. I am quite surprised that you would give a "0" rating for your recent move. There are a few details that you have conveniently ommitted or have exaggerated some of the facts.
First off, our movers arrived on time, to start the job just as you requested. We spent 10 minutes trying to locate the superintendant to get the elevator on service and put the moving pads up on the elevator. At your pick-up location, the access was not the greatest; there were about 4 steps between the elevator and truck that we had to go down, so everything had to be taken off the dolly and carried over to the truck. This is rare to have steps in a moving room, but we have to deal with it from time to time, however, it obviously added time to the load. The boxes you used were mostly "liquor store" boxes, making them a litle more difficult for stacking higher than 3' on a dolly, not a problem-just adds a little more time. It is best to use uniform boxes, or moving boxes, as this will reduce the time to load/unload a truck. On April 28th, the day we moved you, we had a major wind storm, the wind gusts were up to 80kms (the Burlington Skyway Bridge was closed due to an overturned tractor trailer). Obviously it made moving a little more difficult as some smaller items that would normally take 1 mover now required 2 men to go up the ramp. I informed you of the delay regarding the wind, and your response was "what would you like me to do about it".
The 30 minute break that you claim the movers went missing is again somewhat misleading. They went down stairs with a "full elevator", packed the contents into the truck, and took only a 10 minute break. I know that when you can't see someone, you only imagine they are not working.
During the loading you were also quite upset that I didn't previously tell the movers that there was a storage locker, I didn't think it was neccessary as most apartments/condos do have a storage locker and we are more than happy to move it for you. After the load you called me and indicated how upset you were about the time to load, the break, the locker issue, and your general contempt towards the movers. I believed you had no intent to pay the total cost of the move, so we asked for cash upfront for your move. We do not put on any hidden charges, we only charge for hours worked. Movers often get a bad rap for doing a C.O.D. upon delivery of customers goods, however it is rare that we do this (less than 2% of our local jobs).
We pride ourselves on doing quality work, timely service, and providing movers with a minimum 2 years experience. We are continually training our movers, and providing workable systems, so that each one of our customer receives the same great moving experience. I am truly sorry you felt you had a terrible experience, but I think under the cicumstances that the day was not as bad as you claim.
