Had a roof done 10 years ago by Avenue Road Roofing. Oct/06 found that the job was not holding up. Called Avenue Road Roofing and they sent out a repair man. He told me that the wood was not replaced when the job was done ten years ago and the wood had broken through. My contract ten years ago said I would pay for wood if needed. The repairman said "that Avenue Road Roofing will look after it." When Avenue Road found out it would cost them money they sent out another service man. He took off a few singles and said the roof was fine and the first guy did not know what he was talking about. He told me the cost to repair the roof would be $1400.00. I hired another company and had the work done. Guess what, when the roof was exposed the wood had broken through just like the first service man from Avenue Road Roofing had said. I called the second repairman and told him what was found once the roof was exposed and he said "I knew that they would find that" After dealing with the company and letting them know about the way I have been treated they said on November 21/06 that they will not cover my claim. I will now be going to small claims court.I have seen Avenue Road Roofing on the Mike Homes Show and I would have thought they were a much better company than they are. Like Mike says "its the small guy who is treated poorly" How right.
Postscript:
Response to company statement below: It does not say from the date on my contract. No where on my April 17, 1996 quote/estimate/warranty does it indicate a specific 10 year end date. The warranty "guaratnees, for a period of 10 years..". My contract work was done in the year 1996 and the contract runs out at the end of the year 2006. Dec. 31, 2006. Avenue Road Roofing is not owning up to the contracted agreement because they do not want to pay for the work that was done incorrectly in the first place. This incorrect work was confirmed by two of Avenue Road Roofing repairman. So... the little guy is supposed to take the loss. Well, you know what, I don't deserve that loss.

The contract for the above was dated April 1996 & was issued a 10 year warranty period. Only one portion of the roof was replaced, generally a 10 year warranty is issued on full roof replacements, & this form of work is deemed as a repair and would have no warranty. The Estimator at the time did however provide a warranty and Avenue Road Roofing did honour the warranty period for the 10 years. Unfortunately, the customer called six months after the warranty period had expired-we could not do the repair work at no charge. Even though the warranty had expired, the Warranty Department did send someone to take a look at the problem. A quote was provided to the customer to repair the roof which was declined. This was the best Avenue Road Roofing could offer considering the warranty had expired six months prior.
