Tree Service review in
Toronto
A Manitoba Maple (which planted itself in our yard before we bought the property) was leaning at 45 degrees and was at risk of falling over. We got a permit to remove it, and called Al Miley & Associates for a quote -- their quote was the best price, and they seemed friendly and capable. I faxed them the permit and we set a date to have the tree removed. They removed the tree on the date we set, and they swept up after themselves too. They also managed to work around the car port, the compost bin, and our fence. Thanks!
- Approximate cost of services:
- $1,200.00
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- The City of Toronto wants trees, so if they do grant you a permit to remove a tree, they want you to plant another one to replace it. For us, this was not practical - our back yard is small and does not get much sunlight. What they may forget to tell you is that you have 3 choices: 1) plant another tree 2) have a neighbour plant a tree on their property 3) pay the city "cash in lieu" -- currently a $583 fee -- so that you don't have to plant another tree When the city grants you a tree removal permit, it's likely they didn't have time to visit your yard, so call them if you have any questions.
