My personal review of Augusta Movers

I'm a Toronto-based dad with 2 daughters who hired Augusta Movers (3-person team) last May 31, 2020.

Pros: They are on-time and straightforward.

Cons: There was a damage on the floor that was pointed out after the move (see attached photo). The owner investigated and claimed no responsibility and offered an explanation that I found implausible.

After a discussion, I said I will just post my personal account and review on Homestars. I was threatened with legal action if I posted something that harmed their reputation. (Interpret this any way you like.)

My stressful experience with Augusta Movers shaped my opinion that there are better alternatives out there that are more customer-friendly and easier to deal with.

UPDATE:

After reading the company's response, it is really disheartening that they have responded that way. There are factual errors, such as:

- The "bad credit card account" was just a typo which was corrected immediately.

- I owned up to my mistake of the booking time by actually paying them and not contesting the hours of work.

- The place was cleaned to the best to my ability, as a dad with 2 young kids. To characterize our previous home as "unsanitary" is borderline slander because aside from the usual house dirt and dust, there was nothing that alarmed the movers when they performed the move.

- On a related note, their team did not have the proper personal protective equipment (such as masks and gloves) during their job.

- I had them move on a Sunday, got a quote from a handyman on Monday, and Dinko (the business owner) and I met on a Tuesday. I think the timeline is pretty reasonable and was spurred by the damage.

- I actually called Dinko on the day of the move, but he did not respond. When asked why, he said "he's a busy man." It took me a day to get in touch with him to set up an inspection of the damage. His delay gave me time to actually book a quote from a service provider.

More importantly: There's a reason I provided my full name to the review because I stand by my reputation and I was seeking resolution for a damage, which is well within customer rights and protection. To paint me as someone who is "simply after the money" is inaccurate and anti-customer.

I hope the company's response will give potential customers what kind of company you could be dealing with.

Company Response

UPDATE July 22nd, 2020: Regardless of how many times Mr. Regnard Raquedan decides to edit his comments, we still stand firm that, his accusations are false and misleading and we will take legal action to prove this.

To all of our valued customers who are reading this review.

We spent 10 years perfecting our operations and for the 10 years in business we managed to Not scratch a single floor.

And where we caused damage we always made it right.

Every reviewer on our profile can personally confirm the level of protection we provide and professionalism of our men.

Our online presence speaks for its self.

We stand firm that Mr Raquedan statement of damaging his floors is false and misleading and that he was simply after the money.

There were a lot of red flags during the booking process.
His credit card showed bad account, he was late for his move and tried to convince us that he booked different time, where our agreement clearly stated the time we agreed on. His place was disorganized and unsanitary, etc.

After his move He showed us some old damage caused by the metal frame of his bed (this could be easily verified) trying to claim it so he can reduce the amount of his bill.
He stated that the long scratches on the photo was from him moving the bed around and that the more severe damage was from us. This makes 0 sense.
The deeper damage to his floor can be caused only by consistent pressure. Someone tossing and turning in the bed for months, perhaps years.

He even had an estimate for the repair literally an hour after his move.
We are wondering how he managed to organize to get an estimate so quickly especially during the pandemic where everything takes longer. But let's consider he is just great at that!
However, We advised Mr. Raquedan that if he tries to defame our business by posting factually incorrect accusations, we will take legal action against him.

Everyone should understand, that there are bad people on both ends and people like Mr Raquedan try to use the industry bad reputation to get free services.
So unfortunate, that there are people like that out there :(

His comments were, quote on quote: regardless if you scratched the floor or not, it is the customer service that defines a company.
Well, that may be true in most cases but not when false accusations are made.
We will not be intimidated and allow anyone to take advantage of us just so we protect our rep.

Service providers be aware of Mr Raquedan!
