2023 August Rental Unit Renovation
I am very unfortunate to have awarded Mr. Pierre and his company to renovate my rental unit. I found it quite difficult to perform a TRUE due diligence, due to confusing facts about him using multiple company names for his companies. Two of such companies are listed on this site, such as TKG Home Renovations and The Kingsmen Group. His private website that he provided to me has ONLY wonderful reviews displayed, but a customer like me cannot enter a review, so it is obvious those reviews have not been created by real customers. Mr. Pierre presented himself quite pleasantly, as the owner of this company with 27 employees. The reason I decided to award the work to him was because he assured the work will be completed in max 10 days, having different people working in parallel. As this was a rental unit renovation, having it finished fast was of high importance as to not lose more than one month of rental money. The project Total Estimate was 14 K (Bath Reno, Kitchen Quartz countertop and minor fixes, Hardwood Floors refinishing and Painting of the entire unit). He insisted that CASH payment will give a 6% discount (not full HST, he justified upfront, as he had to also pay salaries to employees). He also asked for 2 immediate CASH deposits for the Bath and Kitchen materials to be ordered and delivered to site, such as to expedite the work progress. He even went that far as to ask for a key of the unit in case he needs to come at odd times for measurements or inspection. After paying him almost 8K, I found myself with 1 half day of work on-site, which was thereafter completely abandoned for many days. He and his crew (of 2 random people he hired on the market) have damaged the stair wall adjacent to the bathroom, left the partially demolished bath in a mess, never showed up again, did not take my calls and never returned the money. I had to hire a different company to do the work and repair the damages. As the unit key was never returned, I also had to change the locks. Please be extremely careful when awarding work to a contractor these days. Do your detailed due diligence and stick to the guidelines about giving deposits upfront. I have uncovered a lot more information about Mr. Pierres work, information that I am not allowed to disclose here as per the web site policy. However, I would like to pursue further actions in order to possibly find a way to protect future unsuspecting customers and to recover the deposits, so please do contact me at 647.700.8890 and/or mariana.kerekes@yahoo.ca Thank you and stay safe from becoming a victim. ======== This is my reply after TKG's post: Pierre, I am a 70 Yrs old female and you could be my son. I truly entrusted you with my money upfront, I was there to support you every step of the way and I expected you to deliver what we agreed on time. I overly emphasized that in a rental business you need a quick turnover and every hour of work lost is a loss of revenue, but this message did not resonate with your service. Dont worry, your tools are safely stored with me, I am not taking what isn't mine. You never offered a deposit refund for the initial CASH deposits received of $7,852 ( $ 4,140 CASH on Aug 23/2023 initial Material Deposit at Project startup + $ 3,712 CASH on Aug 25/2023 representing $ 2,500 CASH as 2-nd Material Installment and $ 1,212 CASH for Appliances). Who would not accept a refund? especially when I had to immediately hire another crew. Locks were changed to protect their tools as well as the materials and accessories I purchased and delivered into the unit. So, to simplify our dispute I am still open to accepting a full refund for the total of the cash advances (less your charge for half a day of demolition work) and will return your tools. Should this happen, I would gladly do you justice in this very spot, hoping to help restore your status. And who knows, maybe youll be willing to do some future work for me with a completely different outcome and certainly a different review. ======== Pierre, since youve locked your emails, I am posting a 3-rd reply here. Sorry, I just need to recap the important facts: You fraudulently presented to me and issued all related paperwork such as: Contract, invoices and alike under your FORMER Company Name (and email) which was NOT LEGALLY operating at the time (specifically The Kingsmen Group) which means they are ALL VOID and even if you would be right, which you arent, NO legal binding can be issued. This former Company name is also listed on the Homestars page where I am writing this review. See the right top left of the page saying Formerly Kingsmen Group. To elaborate more on this, you also need to do some thorough research regarding "people's rights when they start a Renovation in Ontario". At the exact same time you took my deposits you were also running three Windows and Doors adds on another website under the supposedly current Company that I am posting this current review under. So, now I wonder who is actually in breach of contract and deceiving customers (to use your words)?. There were NEVER 2 days of work on site, just half day of demolition by 2 people you hired from the open market. I insisted on purchasing my own appliances when I realized your offer of 15%OFF is never going to happen, as the supposed Fridge appliance Order (you sent by email as electronic proof) was NOT a COMPLETED FINAL order showing neither your name or company name or an Order Number. It was just just a shoddy overlapping screenshot of an item selection you placed on the shopping cart without going through a completed checkout process. At my immediate request youve accepted a Cancellation of the "so called" Fridge order and refunding the cost by message to me, but there was NEVER any refund on this item and/or the initial 7.85K CASH DEPOSIT YOU COLLECTED AND DISSAPERED WITH. Lastly, I have never been served with any court documents from the Small Claims Court, so you cannot produce a legal Certificate of Service, which means your statement below regarding a pending suit arent sustainable at this time. But I am well prepared for it should it come my way. Too bad, am so sorry to see that once again, you have chosen the wrong path on resolving this issue, despite of my publicly offered Liniency and noble Offer.

- Company Response
Maria, in your above statement you have gone ahead and fabricated a situation in which does not exist. Our company currently has a pending small claims suit against you for what you had done to us. My team began your minor renovation and after 2 days of work you proceeded to cancel multiple items & request multiple items that were not in the agreed and signed upon contracts. When you were notified we have a binding signed contract you proceeded to lock us out of the home and took all of our tools that were left in the home.
We requested you purchase the materials on your own, and stated if you insist we purchase them on your behalf a deposit will be necessary.
3 days into our contract you emailed us stating you hired a new contractor while our team was still working and left our tools in the home. This was a major breach of contract which resulted in our company filing small claims against you.
You were also offered a cancellation refund which you refused to respond to. Our company never stopped with communication. The last correspondence we had was not responded to by yourself.
Fortunately the legal system abides by signed contracts and we will ensure this matter is resolved in the small claims we have pursued.
