I ordered a front door from George Kent on June 13/08. In the middle of August the door and installation took place. After the old door was removed and the new frame was istalled I noticed the new door was the wrong colour. They agreed to installed the door and re-order another door, the right colour. The second door, the right colour this time, arrived end of September and was installed, but the hand grip, which I provided, was not working properly, but the installer said it may work its way out. Two days later it came to our attention the door was dented. I asked George Kent if I could have the first door painted the correct colour because it was free of dents, I agreed to pay for the repainting of the door. He said it could be done, but it would cost $650 more even thought I was giving back the second door. I thought the price was too much. This matter could not be rectified to a mutual agreement. So now I am left with a brand new door that is damaged and I had to pay a locksmith $230 dollars to fix the door door lockset. The locksmith did say why the lockset didn't work properly was the holes for the lockset had been drilled out of alignment.

Approximate cost of services:
$1,200.00

Company Response

Grip set purchased by customer was an end of the line set of hardware. We clearly wrote into our contract "Customer to supply hardware George Kent Home Improvements not responsible for hardware problems". Had the customer used our Weiser hardware it would have been under warranty. No locksmith necessary. The holes are drilled at the factory by the manufacturer on precision equipment, not on site.
To take the original door, package it somehow, transport it to the factory, have them mask it and paint 2 colours, package it and have a man go back again to pick up and transport to customer, install the door and customers hardware $650.00 was not unreasonable.

Working with Jerry was fun and enjoyable. He came to assess my roof, gave suggestions on how to fix the problems and gave a competitive price quote. He was always available to answer my many questions and concerns. The installers arrived on time, were curteous, and like Jerry answered all my inquiries with politeness, patience, and professionalism. They are true craftsmen who didn't rush through the job just to get to the next one. Of all the previous re-roofing jobs I have had, not one roofer took the time to crimp the edges of the flashing so it would sit flush against the wall like the craftsmen at Smart Roof. I am very happy with the work and would highly recommend them. The roof looks great.
