Poor quality installation led to loss of shingles after 5 years
Marshall roofing installed the roof of my five year old house. This winter I started loosing a significant number of shingles, and when I got onto the roof I found the situation shown in the photograph. When I approached Marshall Roofing to repair their shoddy work they claimed it was not covered due to being wind damage. None of the other roofs in my neighborhood experienced such damage, which indicates that Marshall's installation was substandard. Furthermore, when I did call to determine if they would repair the damage they took so long to get back to me that I almost missed the opportunity to repair the damage due to the inevitable snowfall. The final insult to the injury was that Marshall Roofing attempted to charge me $250 for the privilege of repairing their shoddy work. The take home message is: If Marshall Roofing installed the roof on your new home, find the time to inspect it because they don't do high quality work.

Hi Luke, our standard service fee is $250.00 we do not mark up our repairs during the holidays like many trades do, and we would have been happy to come out and repair it for you, as your roof was exposed. However, wind damage is not covered under "workmanship" warranty, and we did require payment. The shingle manufacturer will have a wind warranty, however i believe you are the second or third owner of this home, so you would have had to have the previous owners transfer that warranty to you. We contacted you in a timely manner and were more than willing to help you out, despite your hostility. And please note, we will not be bullied into doing a free repair because of the threats you made to my company via email - and i quote "If you feel that significant negative press is worth the $250 then I don't really want to rely on your organization for a repair since you clearly are not interested in the satisfaction of one insignificant customer."
