Mentally, emotionally, and Financially Exhausting
Unlike working with one small contractor who will remember your name everyday throughout the renovation experience, I quickly got tired of introducing myself to the endless number of staff assigned to our small 6'x6' bathroom renovation. This 12-month experience that sees no end continues to disturb us mentally, every room in our home, the neighbors, and city streets with the trail of filth and unsafe obstacles left behind each time AGM's 3rd party contractor decided to make time for our renovation. When the completion date was past due, their contactor suggests don't you have a gym membership that perhaps you can take a shower there before you go to work?. The unprofessional interaction just continued every time the contractor decided to show up: - Why did you choose this vanity - Why are you having tile put on the shower ceiling - Your house is old - Your piping is old, no one told me I needed to cover doorways of other room - No one told me I need to correct the nicks in the walls of the bathroom - Your lights flicker because the fan is too strong - Why are you not changing the door - Why are you not breaking down this wall to enlarge your bathroom - Why do you want tile behind your vanity sink - Your living room ceiling flooded and leaked is not our fault, the water has been off for 3 weeks and your house is old So much of the communication gap within the AGM organization was painful, that it was expected to be just as painful with their 3rd party contractor. When I would try and explain to the contractor the answer to all his why are with the AGM designer and I trust it's all in the details of the project that was presented to him from AGM. The response was no, I am working with very little information. Also, to be reminded that he is doing me favors by making time for me. This contractor would only come to our home after 5 PM when he could make a visit. He would work for approximately 2 hours and all you can hear is ongoing frustration doing this job after a long day of him working elsewhere on other projects. Every component to this super small bathroom was contracted out. The glass panels were contracted out to a company where English was not their primary language. Yet the vulgarity of inappropriate language IN ENGLISH that these same workers expressed when they struggled installing the glass was shocking. I would be on work conference calls while working from home that even participants in my call would react are those your bathroom contracts swearing? To this day, our bathroom is incomplete when you look at our bathroom in comparison to the quality you see in AGM advertising on television and online. The bigger television home improvement celebrity that that endorses AGM is nowhere to be found. None of their online spaces respond to any messages on their social media platforms. Contacting the head office of this celebrity has already provided a dead-end week after week almost for a year now. The President of AGM does not speak to customers. Chad, an AGM sales manager said to me If you had a problem with your order at another company, would you ask to speak to the president? In this statement he referred to a basic online merchandise ordering company. It does not stop there the design manager Gloria after 6 weeks not returning calls or emails says well, I did not have any updates for you, so why would I return any or your calls or email?. As the title of my review expresses Mentally, emotionally, and Financially Exhausting. I ended up being the project manager of our own bathroom simply because of the communication gaps internally at AGM and their project manager that sees the overlooked professionalism in the project well, no one can really see that crack so can you now agree to sign off that the renovation is now complete? Despite all of these lived experiences, John the director of operations that reports to Ivan provides no peace of mind or consideration this is typical in all construction projects and we have operated within the confines of the contract. The one saving grace in this entire experience is the district manager Kyle. The only person who did not steer away from being kind, empathetic, and professional. Unfortunately, he is the one genuine soul in the organization that shows he cares. However, he's only the one that the rest of the organization can learn a lot from. The selling feature to AGM is the 5-year warranty. Choose wisely folks, if you can find a private contractor, ensure you know what your warranty truly gives you and rights are. Otherwise, you may need to look to a corporation such as AGM to have 5 years of warranty peace of mind... but pack your patience because a company such as AGM that offers a 5-year warranty, will make you work for it! You will be led to believe that AGM only sources unique product for their own stock that they will only warranty. Yet other contractors have looked carefully at our bathroom and showed me the same items listed on the website of regular everyday house or home supplies stores choose wisely folks, and pack your patience!
