I did a lot of price comparison for a particular Emtek door hardware, which was mostly sold in the States. The ones in Canada were generally way more expensive then the one in the States. I finally found McGregor Thompson and the price they quoted me was quite comparable to the ones in the States. As it was a special order item, it took a couple of weeks to arrive. The doorknob had a scratch on the chrome surface, but I didn't want the hassle of waiting and getting another one so I didn't complain about the scratch. The staff there was friendly and diligent in following up with my order.

I bought a bunch of square picture frames, all of the same style, because I couldn't find them in other stores that I'd been to. Though the frames were fairly cheap, the quality was horrible. Some of the frames were scratched or scratched easily and the hanger to hang the frames were crocked, thus making it difficult to hang the picture straight. I would not purchase from there again.

I have been to Bed Bath & Beyond on various occasions to buy items for the house, such as a dish drying rack and hangers. They don't have a lot of sales, but if you subscribe to their website, they occassionally email out a 20% off coupon for any regular priced item in the store. The quality of their items are great and I've had no problems with any of my purchases there.

I have been looking for some decently priced and of decent quality, soup bowls for a while. I happen to go into Ming Wo and found what I was looking for. The store isn't that big in size compared to your big box stores but the selection there is decent and fairly reasonable in price.

I went to the Garden Works located in Burnaby to purchase some outdoor perennials for my garden. They have a good selection of plants and I found what I was looking for there. I was also surprised to find that they carried a lot of home accessories there also.

Our gutters were frequently getting clogged by leaves so we decided to try out Leaf Guard. They came and provided us an estimate. Overall, their service was good. So far, our gutters have not been clogged since the replacement but we just have to wait till fall to see if they really remain free of leaves.

We had Koshimura Garden Services mow our lawn and also do some maintenance in our garden such trimming our hedges, cutting down a mid size tree, and transplating. They did a really good job. They made sure to clean up everything after themselves and did not leave any lawn clippings or tree clippings laying around.

We were looking for a modern candelier for our dining room that wouldn't cost us an arm and leg and we found what we wanted at The Lighting Warehouse. The sales people there are not pushy at all, rather, we had to try to find an employee there to help us as no one there talked to us until we asked for help. We get lots of compliments from friends on our chandelier.

We were looking for a storage ottoman for a long time but couldn't find one that fit with our couch, at a reasonable price and quality. We finally went to Moe's and found the perfect storage ottoman there, decently priced. We also found several small accessories there to compliment our home, all at great deals as there was some boxing week sales.

We ordered honeycomb blinds from Best Window Fashions for 4 rooms in our house. They came in to do the measurements and in around 3 weeks, the product arrived and they installed the product. We had an issue with one of our blinds opening and closing properly. They took care of the situation and got it fixed.

We got several quotes from various roofing companies to get our roof redone. Crown was the only company that took the time to sit down with us to go through the whole process, provide us with various references, and answer all our questions. Though Crown quoted us at a higher price than the other roofing companies, we selected them to do the job because of their professionalism and customer service. They did a great job on our roof. The only thing that got me upset about them was that they put a signage on our lawn (without asking us first), and dug a pretty big hole to put up the signage. Our lawn now has a whole about a feet in diameter without any grass!

I unexpectedly came across this store in Crystal Mall and ended up purchasing two identical cushions from there because I liked the style of them. It is very decently priced, however, the quality of the cushions are somewhat lacking. I guess you get what you pay for.

My friend told me about this store as she purchased all the fabric for her bridesmaid dresses from here. They have a fairly decent selection of fabric in various colors and materials at a very decent price, compared to other fabric stores. I ended up buying some fabric here for some DIY home artwork I was working on.

Norburne Lighting has a great website where you can browse through their lighting selections. I emailed them for a quote for the lighting on my wishlist and within the next business day, I received a response. Their lights are great in quality, though it's can be a bit pricer than your typical box store. I am happy with the style of light I choose though from the store.

We bought a crib and hutch set from TJ Kiddies for our baby. The crib can be converted into a double bed once baby is older which is great as we don't have to buy another bedding set other than the mattress once our son outgrows the crib. TJ's have a wide selection of cribs to choose from in a selection of colors.

We got bunch of dishware, towels, and other home accessories from Home Outfitters. Their prices are average compared to other stores unless they have a sale. You can find a lot of various home accessories that you need at this store so it's a good one stop shop.

We bought interior paint for our new place from General Paint. Though the color choices are somewhat limited, they were able to take paint samples from other paint stores and recreate the same color, which was great. They have a loyalty program where you pay upfront for the lifetime membership and you can save 20% off all your purchases. We made good use of the loyalty program and have saved quite a bit already from that program.

I purchased a dining table with 4 chairs from Scan Designs. The table is expanable which makes it extremely convenient when there are guests over. The table is modern looking (as it most of the furniture at Scan Designs) and fits my place beautifully.

I purchased 2 toilets from this store. The prices for the toilets were quite reasonable. I bought a higher end toilet and a lower end one and pretty much you get what you pay for. I love the higher end toilet, even though it was quite difficult to for my plumber to install. I found the sales person there a bit pushy; he kept pushing for me to try to buy the highest end toilets which I found quite annoying.

We used Cypress Property Inspections as the inspector during the purchase of our new house. He was very detailed oriented and really took the time to do a thorough inspection. The inspector gave us a CD with pictures of each area he inspected, together with a hard copy report. He then went over his findings with us at the end. We were happy with his level of diligence..

We bought 2 mirrors from Splashes. We were very pleased with the mirrors. They were packaged extremely well and arrived within the specified lead time given at the time of purchase. Though they do not carry stock of a lot of products, they do have a vast selection of products that you can order in.

We had Galaxy move all our furniture out of our T/H, into storage for 2 months, and then into our new house. We shopped around for quotes from different movers for moving and storage and Galaxy came out to be the cheapest that we could find. They gave us one free month of storage which was good. They wrapped all our furniture decently. The only thing we noticed was that our dining table had a few scratches on it when it came back. The movers were friendly and professional.

Siema had extremely great customer service. The staff there was friendly and quick to respond to our issues. However, we had Siema do the installation of our vanities and there were several bumps along the way, all of which were resolved but nonetheless caused us headaches. Lead time for anything not in stock also takes a really long time as the inventory comes out of China.

We bought our L sectional sofa, 2 coffee tables, and bed frame and dressers set from there a while back. We loved the furniture and the sales people there was great. There's free shipping and you can bargain down the price, which we did!
