Our 4 year old cedar deck needed to be protected with a protective sealant. The deck was power washed and cleaned before the spray application of the protective sealant. When it dried there were some areas that needed sanding and an additional application of sealant. Once this was completed the deck has been easy to keep clean and looks great. I think this process was a little expensive and it will be interesting to find out how long the sealant product will last.
