Our experience with PDJ Flooring in Waterloo has been a totally negative one---from the slick initial conversation that ridiculed our request for bamboo flooring to the insistence that laminate would be the way to go for the below-grade, concrete floor in our family room. We are trusting folk, and they are experts in the flooring business, so we were convinced that this 'top grade' laminate by Shaw would be just right! That was our first mistake - the second was paying up front!! One installer was sent, when two were promised. The product looked cheap from the beginning (was this the same laminate that we had initially chosen?), but my hesitation when half the floor was laid was treated with scorn and rudeness. We could not speak with the owner when I requested to do so -- and the work proceeded. We disliked the look of the floor from the outset - and when we put our furniture back in place, much of it was wobbly. The floor was obviously uneven -- but since it was there and was "the BEST" laminate for its price anywhere, we hoped it would 'settle' in time, or that our rug would mask the lumpy , wavy surface. A few months in, a large area lifted (bubbled up?). The installer was sent to lift and loosen. Soon after another large area bubbled - same installer sent to repair - the salesman accompanied him to tell us that this was our fault because of humidity issues in our home. This was news to us. This underlay was supposed to be the BEST moisture barrier ever made --so were our humidity levels so unusual? Despite requests for the owner to come and speak with us and walk over the floor , he refused to do either. We asked a local flooring installer (with the highest Homestar rating in KW) to come and walk over the floor, so that we would have an idea if our complaints were justified. He did so at no cost - and in his opinion they were. He wrote us a letter to this effect, which was completely rejected by PDJ because this person was not an "expert"! PDJ sent a Certified Inspector whose report we have, saying that the problems are not with the product, but with the Site and installation. PDJ then had this report "clarified" by this inspector. The subsequent letter disregards the above issues and refers ONLY to the quality of the flooring and the "moisture problem". We visited the PDJ office/showroom at one point, again in our effort to speak with the owner. We were treated rudely and dismissively. We are ashamed to have guests in our family room and always tell them who is responsible for this unattractive and lumpy floor. We strongly advise everyone to avoid PDJ Shaw Flooring!!
