Not enough room here! Fast and cheap but it shows. We thought they would replace the pieces of wood under the roof to make it straight. They assured us they would replace the rotten wood, not explaining that our warped roof wasn't rotten...just warped. So now we have new shingles, but a crappy warped roof and no recourse and 25 year shingles. They also ripped down some of our lights and eaves and wouldn't put them back. My wife called about this, was assured they'd go back to the house to clean...however, the man she spoke with called her back later at work, basically yelling at her that everything looked clean enough and they couldn't reattach our eave they dismantled because they didn't have the tools. Once we bought a ladder (it went missing the day they worked on the roof) my wife was able to reattach the eave in about 5 minutes. Very unprofessional. I would only recommend them because they were so much cheaper than everyone else (less than half most quotes). If all you need are your shingles replaced, you could do worse.

Approximate cost of services:
$3,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Not yell at customers for complaining. Confirm the night (or better, week) before the day they will be showing up (this seems like a no-brainer). A lot of our misunderstandings would have been avoided if I was able to book a day off work...allowing me to talk to the foreman about what they were doing during/before the work is totally done. Send people an invoice rather than just leaving them the quote to use as an invoice. Answer the phone during business hours.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Good luck. I did some research, got several quotes, etc. and still felt bad about my finished roof. It seems the customer gets the shaft most times.

Company Response

Hi There,

I'm writing because I haven't received an invoice for our roof yet, which was done a couple of weeks ago now. I thought you'd be happy to hear: Russ' reassurance that the bowing in the roof would not affect it's protectiveness has already been proven. After some heavy rains, we are very happy with your work! Our porch used to leak like crazy and now it's totally dry in there. We also had a hole in our dining room ceiling because of the ice damming of winter '09, and we've patched it up and it all feels dry, safe and sound. Family and neighbours have also reassured us that the shingling looks great, and I've realized I was being too much of a naive perfectionist when I expected the roof to look brand new. I was also angry that day because our ladder was stolen from the back yard (you guys wouldn't have taken it by mistake, hey?), and we were unable to put our eaves back on until we bought a new ladder. Anyway, I just thought you'd be happy to hear that we are happy with the roof and we'd like to pay you for the remainder of our balance owing. The guys said we'd get a bill in the mail as they left, but I just wanted to make sure that's the case and that you are not waiting for money from us. So let me know what's outstanding and I'll mail in a cheque.

Thanks,
Rylee Cizik
This is the homeowners e-mail to us.We also only use high grade ladders wouldn't even use a residental ladder. They have a home on toronto ave and there structure was bowed a bit its like 120 year old building. They thought we would rebuild the structure. Thats not changing rotten wood. I went to inspect and found nothing on the ground. I was so shocked they where treating us like this. We provide everybody with an invoice from the start of the job. I again still don't know why they did this. And never once yelled or even was mad. Thankyou
