This company came to me highly recommended by several acquaintances. I called them to replace my roof (which was not leaking but very worn). The owner showed up, checked the roof and gave me a quote emphasizing all the guarantees. They came and replaced my roof in the fall and by next spring the roof was leaking. I called and spoke to the owner who came and looked at the roof. He said everything was fine and the real problem was I needed new windows. I called numerous window companies and they all said the windows were fine and that it was the roof that was leaking. I called other roofers and they told me the 3 foot membrane around the perimeter of the roof was missing ie shingles were put right on top of the wood and the shingles used were not brand new they estimated about 3 years old !!!! The other roofers all agreed that the step flashing and counter flashings were all done incorrectly as well! I also paid for 2 home inspectors to come and do an inspection they both agreed it was the roof that was not done properly. I called the owner back and told him what I found out and he completely denied everything saying it was the windows. I had to call new roofers to try and fix the problem without putting on a whole new roof and they could not match the shingles Contex used because they had been discontinued many years ago.

Company Response

I pulled your file, and our records show the following:

We were called out in the rain to assess a leak.
I went out personally and showed the point of entry in your attic with a flash light and camera.
The dormer siding was open around the window flashing and wood was exposed.
The shingles were delivered from a reputable supply house, and the shingles were first rate quality.
The eave protection was in place where the roof was inspected.

We have an email that we sent you from over a year ago stating the following:
I (Contex) was not happy with the flashing around the windows and we were prepared to replace the flashing at no charge to you.
I also stated that if we married in new shingles and the dye lot was off, I would replace the entire front slope at no charge to you.
I stressed in the email that if I do all this, you will still have a leak because the dormer siding has failed. I asked you to replace the siding at the same time (which allows us to do a proper counter flashing detail).
We forwarded a price to you to supply and install siding at our cost.
You declined the offer.
I was perplexed by this.

I am surprised to receive this review over a year from when we presented you with a solution and a very fair offer. It is disappointing especially given the history we share.

Our records show that we replaced the flat roof on the same property prior to your shingles being done. Our records indicate that we gave you payment terms to help alleviate the financial burden. Our records also show that we replaced the roof at your previous residence.

I don’t know what else I can say or do.
