When it comes to rats these guys are the best. Extremely knowledgeable about their behavior and how to remove them and keep them OUT of your house, instead of just killing them and walking away like some of the other companies do. You can tell they're passionate about their work. They take the time to find entrance points around the house and properly assess the best way to seal them. After they were done, I wasn't ashamed to have parties in the basement! The technician (Brandon) was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Also, my parents had a bird that would come visit the alcove above their front door with his face in the corner. It would only come at night and was making a huge mess of droppings - all over the Christmas trees! We contacted Atlas - they came out to have a look and assessed the behavior of the bird. It had been forced out of its nest and was disgruntled. Atlas recommended that we use a deterrent and by damn it worked! Highly recommended.

Make sure you are aware that this is NOT the same company as the Great Canadian Van Lines which is a reputable solid moving company. Canadian Van Lines appear to be basically one person (in each location) working out of their garage I think with no credentials whatsoever in this industry. Their website lists an erroneous address in Langley and we couldn't find a business licence for them in BC. When we attempted to contact their "customer service" we learned their phone system is primarily a voicemail router and we never did get a call back from them. The dispatcher (James) was very poor at communicating about our delivery and basically we were finally told they were holding our goods until we agreed to pay IN FULL BEFORE they would deliver to the final destination which delayed the delivery by 2 full days costing us money and time. The drivers (independent contractors) told us later that they were being held up intentionally until final payment was received. We never disputed the final payment, just wasn't aware it was all due up front! A practice not common in the moving industry according to many sources. After many debates over this, we agreed to pay in full in order for them to deliver our goods, and when we asked for them to send us an invoice showing the final amount owing they argued they didn’t need to do that as we would get a FINAL invoice showing the payment amount. I don’t know about you, but I’m not keen about allowing someone to charge our credit card without knowing the amount. After more arguing, James finally did email an invoice and we got everything processed. Of course by this time the drivers had been re-routed for other work and hence the delay. They finally showed up at 11pm, 2 days late. It pays to research these companies before agreeing to anything, as there are seemingly many horror stories out there, and nobody to regulate them. Pick one with a solid reputation, been around awhile and has a good BBB rating.

With moving companies, you get what you pay for. I had a bad experience in the past with smaller local companies. These guys were friendly and accommodating to my needs as I had changed my destination a few times moving from an apartment in Calgary to an apartment in Vancouver. Office staff were helpful and the movers were friendly and gentle with fragile items. They came prepared with pads and wrapped everything. However they did charge extra for a "shuttle fee" because they brought a HUGE truck and couldn't park it anywhere (this was written in the contract). A little research on the areas and they could have avoided this. They agreed to reduce the fees by half but still blamed me for not telling them there was nowhere to park the big truck. It should be the responsibility of the movers to determine what size truck they need based on the items I needed moved and what parking is available at the building. Just another way moving companies screw us out of money.

Company Response

Thank you Jared for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We do disclose the potential need of a shuttle visibly on all of our contracts as there are many factors that determine whether a shuttle may be required. Since we are an Atlas Van Lines agent, majority of our long distance shipments are transported via a 53' tractor trailer to offer the most competitive price. Unfortunately, some of the restrictions in accessing the destination locations are not always able to be determine from research done by our in-house sales coordinator and/or information provided by our customers. The final discretion comes from our tractor trailer drivers as they are the ones transporting the shipment and are entrusted with the safety of those around them. I do apologize if you had felt the blame was placed on yourself but I do assure you that was not our intention. As you can see from our gesture of splitting the shuttle costs, we do look to find equal terms with all of our customers on scenarios that our clients nor ourselves are always able to anticipate. We do appreciate your review and hope that you will consider using Premiere again as you have provided us with some wonderful comments.
