From initial quote, through to install all the way to follow ups, Matthew and his team from Milano personify customer happiness. We replaced all our windows (12 in total + 1 more difficult upper level bay window in the picture) and patio door of our house with triple pane, pebble coloured windows to match our garage. Both me, my wife and kids are thrilled with the look, craftsmanship and energy savings from the final product. Matthew is a really caring professional and really helped us through the quote process giving advice as well as listening to our feedback on the type of windows we wanted. On the install day, his team showed up right on time, helped move some plants and outdoor furniture we forgot to move and worked through what seemed like 40+degrees outside replacing one window at a time keeping the temp in our house cool. They also replaced all the casings with some pretty nice new ones. Matthew came in later in the day to help and make sure we were happy. He even offered to come back and put in a kick lock we forgot to ask for free of charge on the patio door. After they were done in less than a day, they put all the outdoor furniture back and cleaned up everything around the house at which point you couldn't even tell they'd been there aside from the stunning new windows. Thank you Matthew and we'll definitely be recommending Milano Windows & Doors to all our friends and family.

Hicham and his colleague Andre did an amazing job. The whole process was very smooth from quote to finish. He was always available for all my questions. The install was quick and they worked during a very very hot morning getting the old door replaced. We love the new door.

The windstorm destroyed my roof on friday. After calling many roofers Mark was the only one who came out and took a look at my roof on saturday. Instead of patching it he showed me pictures and highly recommended we replace the whole roof. I reluctantly agreed. He came back the next day sunday just as he said he would and patched/tarped my roof until his team could come back in 3 weeks to replace the whole roof. In the meantime I got other roofers to give me quotes and they all agreed I should replace the whole roof. I went with mark because he could come out sooner than any other roofer and he offered me Landmark Certainteed shingles, open valleys, replace all vents at a good price. Mark and his team came today. They tarped all around my house to ensure the old shingles wouldn't damage anything as they ripped it off an threw it to the ground. Finished in a day, cleaned up all shingles, granules, nails and it looks like they were never there. I watched them on average put 7 nails per shingle sheet so they definitely stick by their warranty and I can have peace of mind in the next windstorm. We'll see how things go in the next windstorm but I was very happy with Mark and team at Nicety Roofing.

Called knox insulation to top up my attic to R50. Kyle showed up right on time, inspected the attic and showed me various problems in the attic with bare spots in insulation and improper venting done by previous contractors. All problems I suspected due to our bathroom upstairs being very cold during winters and having some moisture problems in the shower. Kyle fixed the venting, topped up the insulation, checked all pot lights and baffles and also weather stripped the attic hatch. Cleaned up very well after and showed me the final product by letting me go up in the attic. I hope to have a much more comfortable upstairs now. Thanks Knox insulation.

2.5 years ago Alpine replaced my entire roof and I was happy with the installation. Last week some shingles flew off my roof and a portion of the plywood was exposed. I called Alpine and talked to Tom who was initially reluctant to cover the fix under the warranty provided since he claimed it did not cover any wind damage(the reason for the 1 point deduction in this review). I believe the workmanship warranty should cover moderate winds. My wife then called Tom back and she was quite angry so I must apologize if she came across as rude. Regardless Tom sent out 2 guys who arrived the same day promptly and they reshingled the exposed roof in some cold temperatures. They did this quickly and from the looks of it a decent job. I spoke with Tom after this and he agreed that he would not charge me for the fix. I was happy that alpine responded so quickly and decided to eat this cost. As a result, they are getting a good review from me. Alpine and Tom responded to my problem well and it points out that customer satisfaction is important to alpine. I want them to keep this in mind when trading off cost vs. customer satisfaction in future business. A happy customer is always good business. And I am a happy customer and hope this review does help their business. Update 2012: I'm downgrading this completely to a 0. Every spring when there's a windy day I find that my roof always has shingles blowing off. But not a single neighbour has shingles blow off so I asked myself why that is. I did some research and your supposed to put 4 nails per shingle. I've checked shingles that have fallen off my roof and all have 2 nails per shingle. This company is completely crooked. I don't even want to call them to come anywhere near my roof anymore. I would rather pay a reputable company more money to completely redo my roof than even have a single Alpine person anywhere near my house ever again.

Back in spring, Dave did pretty much all the random pieces of renovation needed in a large main floor/kitchen project. We wanted tall cabinets so he removed the empty bulkhead above our old ones. He removed all the cabinets and counters without damaging our existing backsplash which was the only thing we wanted to keep, added in electric lines for the potlights and undercab lights that would be going in after the cabinets. He removed 3 sinks and tied off the water lines so the rest of the reno could proceed. He came back after the cabinets went in to drywall any holes, add potlights, connect the new sinks, connect the dishwasher as well as a complicated installation of some pendant lights that my wife just had to have. He pretty much did anything and everthing we asked of him so I had no problems forking over the money...it was well worth it. If your reading this review just stop now and call him cause there's nothing more I or anyone could say to explain the satisfaction I'm sure everyone here has had with his services. A well deserved 10/10. Thanks Dave.

Thank you for your great review, Lyndon and glad the final result looked so good! When doing a major project, there are often lots of smaller projects that can result. A handyman is often the most cost effective route to go for these, plus I always try to ensure the finished product is how I would want it to look in my own home. Once again, thanks for your business!

Ewen basically added trim and casings to our entire main floor in our house over two phases in spring as part of a kitchen renovation and just recently as part of a living/dining/family room renovation. His workmanship is excellent. He cuts outside so not leave much dust in the house (it was warm enough to cut outside when we did our renos). He also works well around issues like uneven walls and corners, badly placed sockets/switches. Sometimes space between the trim and the wall can't be avoided so he usually fills that in with caulking and hides the gaps well. One thing is that he always suggests priming and painting after he installs which makes it harder to do since you have to tape the walls. But I think this is necessary otherwise the paint will gunk up when he cuts or sands pieces. He's a very sociable guy and me and my wife enjoy talking with him about random things as well. His quote is up front and by the book. And I trust him enough to work in the house when we're at work as well. In our last reno he finished casing 3 big rooms for us (baseboard, window casing and crown moulding) in 2 days without compromising quality. So he can really work fast as well. After painting the wood and putting furniture back and adding Xmas decor the place really makes me feel at home. The trim gives the rooms a nice pop and accents our earth tone wall colours.

Second time was indeed a charm. Lyndon and his wife were up against the clock, with Christmas looming just around the corner, so we quickly agreed to everything. 2 LONG days gave them enough time to have the painting done before the guests arrived to consume all their food and drink. A real pleasure to see their happily astonished smiles. I look forward to working with them again on future endeavours.

Setting up the install was a breeze with a quick e-mail. Mike, the HVAC installer, called before hand and arrived on time. Removed and disposed of the old humidifier, set up the new one in less than a few hours. Answered all my questions well. Had a small snafu with the water line to the humidifier having a pinhole leak in it because it was left resting up against the super hot exhaust gas pipe from the furnace. But Mike did a great job of fixing it and securing the water pipe away from the exhaust pipe. He also gave me a free pad replacement for next year. Mistakes happen, its what you do in the face of these mistakes that really matter to me and Mike did a great job. Update: I have to update this review to a lower score here. The humidifier did not work at all. In fact, the installer hadn't even tested that the thing turned on when first installed since the power supply he used was from the old humidifier and that supply wasn't even powered. When I called the company they sent someone out very quickly (next day) and got it all fixed but its something so simple that it should have been tested in the first place which is why I'm dropping this a few points.

We went to numerous hardwood places and found frontier to be the best in terms of quality, price and service. From start to finish we had a great experience dealing with Frank/Angelo in our initial choice of wood and pricing. The installers Jeff and Frank also did a great job of installing the wood in quite a large area in less than a day. They cleaned up after they were done and hauled away all the excess wood, cardboard and sawdust left over. Angelo also offered up a bottle of hardwood cleaner on the house on final payment. I would highly recommend them for any wood flooring job.

This review is long overdue by me. Ewen cut and installed all the baseboards, window casings and door trim on most of our main floor as part of a major renovation. From the beginning he gave an accurate quote and completed the work exceptionally. He cut everything outside leaving the inside clean. Our new base/trim really make our house pop. And I also liked our periodic chats about the world cup...why scotland didn't make it and why england needs better players. Great man to work with and a fantastic carpenter.

Lyndon was very pleasant to work with and a real footy fan and although neither of his teams won the World Cup, he still reminded me, as I lamented the fact, that Scotland didn't even qualify! Made a friendly working enviroment even better. Thanks Lyndon.

Stewart came to our house to complete a floor tiling part of an entire main floor renovation. He did a great job considering we had multile layers of tile to demolish. He picked up the new tiles for us, trusted him to do work while I was at work. He screwed down the existing particle board subfloor as well as added additional plywood on top of that to secure the base for the tiles. The reason for the 1 pt deduction is that he originally quoted 2 weeks to complete the job but took 3 weeks in total. But the quality of the tiling was worth the wait. I would definitely recommend Stewart for any tiling job, big or small.
