We selected JBG Tile and Contracting to update the floor as part of our recent kitchen reno. Loreto was quick to respond to our inquiry and provide a quote in the initial stages of planning out our reno. Since we were not using an all-in-one kitchen reno company, I had to coordinate the activities of each trade as well as figure out who does what and when. Loreto was great to deal with in terms of his communication and in sharing his experience with other renovations. In fact, I used the electrician and plumber for the job based on Loreto’s recommendation. Both were excellent choices as well. Loreto’s team for the demo work on the old floor and some cabinets was excellent. Finishing the job in less than a day and cleaning up the old under-tile mesh used by the builder. Speaking from experience with two other tile floors, this is a thankless, dirty job and they handled it professionally, as cleanly as possible, and were great to work with. Carlos did the actual tiling, and what a pro he is. Very methodical and careful, he did an excellent job on the floors. I had some concerns about a high spot in our floor that had been there since day one, but with the 24x24 tiles, Carlos didn’t have an issue and constantly checked the level while laying tiles. The transition to our hardwood floors was a bit of a variable because of the height of the old tile versus new, but I replaced the tapered transition hardwood piece and as a result Loreto and Carlos came up with a quick, seamless transition. We sourced our tiles from JBG’s showroom with Loreto’s help. JBG has a great selection of tile options. I would definitely use JBG again.

Vittuci Electric was contracted to update the lighting and electrical outlets as part of our recent kitchen reno. Normally I look for contractors through Homestars, however Rocco and team were recommended by the contractor re-doing our kitchen floor (JBG Tiling – a Homestars pick). What a pleasant surprise. As part of our renovation, we had opted for pot lights and a couple of pendant lights for overhead lighting, undermount cabinet puck lights for counter lighting and in-cabinet puck lights for the coffee bar cabinets. Existing outlets were used, as well as new outlets for 20-amp service and new circuits for our over-the-range microwave and beverage fridge. Since we weren’t using an all-in-one kitchen reno company, I had to coordinate the activities of each trade as well as figure out who does what and when. Rocco was great to deal with in terms of his communication and in sharing his experience with other renovations. I removed an existing bulkhead in the kitchen in preparation for the new cabinets and took on the responsibility of repositioning some existing builder wiring and Rocco was helpful in ensuring my work would pass inspection. Both Lukas and Rocco were involved in our reno, and both are very professional, courteous and easy to work with. While a die-hard DIYer, this was a bit too much for me and, as it was, even a couple of existing circuits wouldn’t have met today’s electrical code. With the professional work from Vittuci, all work has been ESA certified. I would definitely use Vittuci Electric again.

New Age replaced an existing security monitoring service during a home renovation to replace our windows and doors. What I appreciate most about them is that their customer service has always been very responsive.
