I recently had the pleasure of working with Sharratt Bros. Construction, and the experience was outstanding. Randy and his crew completed the trim work in my basement following a recent renovation. His prices were very competitive, but the quality of their work (attention to detail) and commitment to my satisfaction truly stood out. Randy and his team demonstrated remarkable attention to detail, particularly in their approach to coping inside corners a level of craftsmanship often replaced with quick/convenient miter cuts except for those who take pride in their craft. Their dedication to precision was evident, and it was clear they took pride in their work. This wasn't a "no job is too small" type of engagement, but felt like they were putting the finishing touches on a project in its final strokes. From the start, the communication with Randy was easy and upfront. He's a genuine guy comfortable committing on a handshake, and not insistent on payment until the job is complete. He and his team were not only professional but also polite and friendly, making the entire process smooth and comfortable. They consistently left the work area spotless at the end of each day, which was greatly appreciated after weeks of chaos. Randys commitment to customer satisfaction was evident throughout the project. He even took the initiative to fix a few issues left behind by the flooring installers at no additional cost, showing his dedication to ensuring everything was perfect. Overall, I am extremely happy with the quality of work and the outstanding service provided by Sharratt Bros. Construction. I can't think of a single instance where my expectations weren't exceeded. Seems silly to send such high praise for "trim work" alone - but there is more to my story where Randy intervened in a disaster the night before, and wanted nothing more than to be a good neighbour. Truly a wonderful man and I would gladly engage with Randy and his team for any future projects. Highly recommended! First, let me state that I'm a long time customer - having purchased the first bedroom set back in 2007. Since then we've purchased 4 complete bedroom sets (Tuscany) including double beds, dressers, and night stands. Beyond our purchase, we've influenced a few others who made similar investments after seeing our girls bedrooms. Quality is top-notch, and I feel good about buying local, and supporting local small business. After 9 years the furniture is standing up to the abuse of kids. This is natural wood (and MDF where necessary) and so far there are no cracks, shrinkage, or warping. Paint is still consistent with no fading. Expensive? Maybe. "Fair" is more accurate. Like anything else in life (TV's, Appliances, Vehicles, Jewelry) - you get what you pay for. Justification for us was easy. Purchasing 1 quality bedroom set for our child before she leaves and goes off to college... vs. buying 2 or more? And believe me, the delta isn't as great as other reviews may have you think. A quality 5 drawer dresser/chest with solid wood drawers built with screws and dove-tail joinery? ~$1,000. A few hundred more than big box stores, but you buy it once - and the bottom of the dresser drawer never falls through. Service: Amazing One of the beds started chipping paint at the foot of the headboard. Perhaps a defect? Who cares? MHC sent a service tech to the home with a new headboard, and removed the old one. Another time they came out to re-adjust a dresser drawer.... but ended up inspecting all the beds and dressers in the other 3 bedrooms to make any adjustments necessary to ensure they continue to operate as new. This was years after my last investment. Please tell me who else offers this kind of service in the world today. I'd love to know. In the meantime, our support continues having just ordered another nightstand over the phone for my daughter. Another pleasant transaction, and an investment that has never risked disappointment.

We came across Unique by Design when we were searching for tile for our kitchen backsplash. In the process of obtaining a quote, the design studio we consulted with offered to send out their installer to provide an estimate. We scheduled a time to meet with John (whom I never met before and thought he worked exclusively for the designer). I want to preface this by saying I'm quite handy. I'm an avid DIY'er who has done backsplash before, but also acknowledge my limitations. My home is new, entirely custom, and so we're looking for perfection (or as close as possible). Also having been working with trades through several homes; I've become familiar with many of the short cuts contractors tend to make. Makes me appreciate the finer details, and when John came out I was impressed by his suggestions and what he had to offer. The design studio did not carry the tile we decided on. We called John back and asked if he'd still be interested in the job. To his credit (and a wrinkle to our plans) John was honest and would not contract to us directly because it was the designer that put us in touch. Relationships matter, and I respect that. We also had no issue with the design studio - they were great in fact, and so we had to request them carry this line of tile on our behalf - just so we could work with John. We had 3 quotes on the job. John's was very competitive. His estimate was 2 days to complete the work, but it took 3 full days. The extra day wasn't a failure on John's part, but instead spoke to his meticulous nature. John would pause from time to time and explain to us an opportunity (or obstacle) and give us choice. When we obviously took the more detailed, more time consuming route - it never phased him. John would smile and go back to work. And that 3rd day? John cut into his weekend to ensure continuity - that he was there daily from start to finish, and ensure we were not left with a disruption longer than necessary. In the end, were thrilled with the work. I would not hesitate to call on him again in the future, and I'm confident our paths will cross again soon. Fantastic work and a very reasonable price. Thank you for a great experience!

Great company with very reasonable rates. The 4 man crew that took us from 2 homes, into a single one were careful, and hard working. As much as I hate to pay for moving services, I have to admit that these guys deserved every cent. There were several instances where their service went above expectations. Yes, there was some cosmetic damage, but it was minimal and the company was good about getting this taken care of (currently in this process now, but no concerns). In such an event, these things will happen. Moves are chaotic and people are stepping over each other. That's expected, but what's appreciated is the hard work, and their commitment to ensuring complete satisfaction. Money well spent.

Fantastic company. We've had the pleasure of working with both Angelo and Joe on the design of a kitchen for our new home. Their design centre offers plenty of options and the team was great at designing features optimal for our space. Considering the nature of the project, we've gone back-and-forth several times and every conversation has been helpful and enjoyable. Quality of work is outstanding. We would be happy to recommend City Kitchens to anyone.

Exceptional service, and the best price I was able to find for Eclipse Shutters. Mark's quote was better than I found at both the National Home Show, and the Durham Home Show (2015). I have a corner lot which represents a lot of windows. Shutters are an investment, and not one I want to have to make twice by selecting the wrong business. Price is important, but reputation and quality is what we strive for. Mark was fantastic. Very friendly and easy to talk to. No sales pressure, or up-selling. Mark suggested reasonable options and left us to decide whether it fell within budget. Measurements were accurate and the installation went without a single incident. His installers were clean, quick, and personable. Truly a great end-to-end experience.

I was first introduced to Maric several years ago when a faulty vapor sensor on my water heater left me with no hot water. Maric was quick and accurate in his diagnosis, and the issue was resolved on the first visit. Being a curious home owner, I hovered... we bantered, and I found him to be as personable and friendly as he was professional. I kept his card... This past week I called upon Maric's services for a new home we're building. I asked him to install a new water heater, gas lines, and fireplace. I have to tell you, this man is fantastic. Very versatile, and a good character to have around when you need to spend the day with a contractor. Just as important, he is extremely reasonable with his charges. Maric's costs were less than estimated/agreed which is rare in this industry. I have used him in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. Everybody needs "a guy for that" and I'm telling you Maric is the one for all of your HVAC needs!
