I have yet to meet a dishonest company bent on fleecing your money needlessly from you, well I can now cross that off my list. So, if you’re looking for reliable appliance repair service please be smarter than I was and look past Appliance Repairman, a.k.a. Appliance Repair Guys. I approached them after my Whirlpool stackable washer & dryer stopped working and needed to be fixed fast. I am a quadriplegic and find it pretty much impossible to do laundry at a Laundromat, not to mention my wife already does more than enough care for me that I didn’t need to add to her extensive list. Anyways, they showed up a few days after my phone call, unlike their same day service quoted on the website, and reeled off a list of repairs needed. After completing those jobs, I was informed our rubber mold seal needed replacing due to mold and would require a second person to accomplish so would have to make a second appointment. Fair enough. However, getting them to show up for the second appointment was a feat in itself. The first attempt failed due to the worker’s truck breaking down in the morning and there was no replacement; while for the second attempt only one worker showed even though it stated a two-man job on the work order. Upon the third visit the last job was successfully done (or so we thought) and the laundry catch up began. On our third load, there was a horrendous crashing noise, the machine started shaking across the floor making my wife stop the load midway to prevent the dryer from tipping off the washer. We contacted customer service to inform them about our predicament and were told someone would be out to assess the situation. The worker arrived, checked the washer for all of 30 seconds, and then kindly informed us a suspension spring had snapped which would require replacing. Even better was that it would be two weeks’ minimum for the part to arrive and would require two workers again. I kindly asked them to leave and not come back. The fun didn’t stop there. So now we had to go out and purchase a new washer & dryer on top of disposing of the old. We bought the new pieces and a friend removed the old to give to a family that needed them and had the ability to finish fixing. However, upon getting the washer to his home, my buddy opened the washer and saw the drum just hanging with the supposed broken spring just sitting beside it. He quickly reattached the spring, straightened the rum and voila the washer ran fine. If a non-repairman can fix it in a few minutes with no hardship, what were the Appliance Repairman workers really doing other than ripping me off with bogus work orders? We contacted customer service to express our displeasure with the service received, as well as the extortionist costs we paid and my wife was told we’d receive a call back the next day. The call came and we were offered $50 which made us laugh and asked for a better deal. We were put on hold and were offered $60 when the call taker returned. Upon our response of, “Really? May we speak to your superior?” we were answered with a hang up. Save your mentality, your money and your peace of mind by steering very far away from Appliance Repairman. And if you think this is just one instance, check here https://homestars.com/companies/2814989-appliance-repair-guys. Be smart and do not use this company! As Canadians, we’d really prefer to encourage the use of our Canadian companies to boost our economy, but with RONA we suggest taking your business elsewhere. We just went through a proposed 1-week kitchen renovation that turned out to be a 6-week nightmare renovation from Hell! To start, we lost complete access to our kitchen for 5 days as the delivery men just piled our boxes in the kitchen and no one came to even start unpacking them for 5 days. They tore our kitchen down in one day, but due to production hold ups we had no water in the kitchen for 2.5 weeks and were left doing dishes in our bathroom shower. Production was even longer due to the designer mishap for our corner space requiring an ordered standing cupboard (it would not even stand there because of our windowsill). Furthermore, he then turned around and said it was my wife’s fault despite the fact that he was the one with the measuring tape and he measured it. Upon our first complaint after a frame around our dishwasher fell off in 24 hours and they were already a week over their proposed time frame, the manager promised compensation, but then changed his word and said it was part of the renovation and was to be expected. The sub contracted company (who arrived without tools 1 day, screws another, no more than 3 hours of work on site, never 2 days consecutive, left 1 day early for cutting and then didn’t show for 2 more for more cutting) MJ Construction left a big mess in our underground parking which I had to pay the cleaner to get rid of as I’m disabled and could not do it myself while my wife was at work. This company seemed unable to complete any aspect of this job with competence. After our frustration with the work ethic grew, we hired elsewhere for the painting which cost us more as the painters had to take an extra day fixing the patching job and botched tile work before they could even prime the kitchen to paint. As well as having a plumber come in to replace the broken cold water shut off (which they never mentioned) on top of fixing the kitchen faucet pipe connections that MJ Construction installed during the job. We recommend you take your money elsewhere to avoid going through a nightmare renovation with a sub-par job and find someone that will leave you with a respectable kitchen.
