leaking main shutoff valve repair
Had a new water heater put in – the installers noticed that my main shut off was leaking, they manage to install the new tank and advised me to call a plumber to fix the valve. I had the old twist valve (garden house type). I found few plumbers but they were either busy or wanted $180 to just come and see the problem – did not seem to be too helpful over the phone. “toronto plumber” however ended up offering to come the same day at no charge and give me the price for the job. They came on time – they offered me a few options and price points and explained the cause of the original valve failing and starting to drip slowly. After talking it over with my wife we agreed to do the job as we liked the service and explanation of everything, so after calling in to have city come and shut off our water we scheduled an appointment for next day. Alex and his apprentice Terry came as promised and got to work. They used torch to remove the old valve and then nicely cleaned the pipes with some sand paper and even wiped the pipes – looks like new now. They showed us how to operate the valve and precautions I can take. Also showed me why the old valve failed. The city came Couple of hours later the city came and opened our water back up, I checked the valve and open/closed it few times, everything was working perfectly and there were no leaks. Extremely happy about the installation and care this guys put into doing there work. Will use them again for work.
