We had our front and back garden landscaped by another company in 2014, and since their regular contractor was not available for lighting, we contacted Great Canadian. From the start, Mark T. was professional and knowledgeable - since our house is not very modern and is on a small lot, we wanted to make sure the lighting was subtle and complementary. Mark gave us some great suggestions, and came back several times to tweak things and make sure they were perfect. He rushed the job on our garden path lights (if memory serves correctly, I think he even worked on a Sunday) so that the lights would be up for Hallowe'en and the little ones didn't fall in the dark! We are so pleased with the end result, it's the "icing on the cake" for our house. As soon as our budget is replenished, we'd like to have Mark come back to do our back yard lighting!

We had a landscape design done by Bedard Landscape Design and interviewed several companies to carry out the work in late spring 2014. Jeff stood out as being confident and honest, and we liked him immediately. Despite Transformations being very busy, he fit in our backyard project, which was not as involved as the front, in August 2014. We were thrilled with the results...his crew were courteous, hard working and cleaned up each day. The transformation of our back yard is so pretty, I look at it and smile all the time! We had hoped to get going on the front yard in early September, but there were a few delays, which was a little frustrating, as they would get going and then have to get to another job and come back to us. However, since our front yard was a bigger job than the back (we were landscaping, adding in a paving stone walkway and redoing our concrete driveway to become a paving stone one), we wanted to stick with Transformations. We were very pleased with the end result, and the work ethic of the crew. The delays seemed mostly to be due to the company being very busy and not enough crews to keep up with demand. Our neighbours commented on what a great job Transformations did and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them - Jeff really knows his stuff and gave some great recommendations for our planting scheme. I should also mention that Great Canadian Landscaping did the lighting and they did a phenomenal job!

We found Green Apple Construction after "interviewing" and getting quotes from at least five contractors - we decided on Green Apple partially because their quote was reasonable, partially because the owner (Saeed) was going to be onsite and doing some of the work himself, but mostly because we just liked him as soon as we met him! Our 1980's 2,000 sq. ft. house felt dark on the inside, and hadn't been especially well looked after - my husband had a vision for what it could be like but I struggled with seeing it. We did a lot of research on Houzz for what we wanted, and decided to have the renovations done before we moved in. Saeed had excellent suggestions as to how to modify the space, and he and his team got about 90% of the project done in about 6 weeks. That included (but not limited to), getting rid of the "popcorn" ceiling throughout, and installing recessed lighting, painting, re-doing the laundry room/pantry, a powder room, main bathroom, crown mouldings throughout, baseboards, getting rid of a hideous floor-to-ceiling fireplace, custom building a walnut mantel, installation of electric fireplaces (2), one of which we have now converted to gas, building a back deck. We didn't have him do our kitchen countertops or range hood, but I wish we had. Overall, Saeed's team are hard working, polite and dedicated. We have used them for a few other projects in our home, and will continue to do so. We've also referred them to several friends. And I am happy to say, we consider Saeed a friend now. We asked Vera to do a landscape design for both our front and back garden in June 2014. We live on a smaller lot, and wanted something child-friendly and easy to maintain while providing us with more privacy. Vera was a delight to work with, very professional, helpful and available to answer my incessant questions! She worked with us to modify the plans to our taste and the end result was a beautiful design that enhances our space. I should mention that we strayed slightly from the design & planting scheme as the landscapers started to lay things out. I will post photos as soon as the landscapers have finished the project (hopefully early Sept.)
