I had gone into One Stop Framing & Gallery with a poster, thinking I would just have it put into a frame with a glass front. Not an overly elaborate job, but an important one none the less, as this was a gift for a friend. After asking for a quote for the poster size, the person at the desk asked me if I had though of any other applications for the poster. She went over a few different options on what could be done, and the pros and cons of each. After talking with her, it became evident that what I was asking for would not produce the result I wanted.
I can't remember the name of the application we decided on, but in the end it made the poster look like a painting - it added depth and texture. The benefits of this application is that a) it's durable, b) it is washable, and c) there is no glass involved so there are no reflections from the sun or the cloudiness that glass sometimes gets when it's dirty. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, and my friend was wowed by the photo.
I was very happy that the helpful staff member at the front made the suggestions and took the time to understand what I wanted. I look forward to using them again the next time I have artwork to frame or create.
