Be careful as gouging seems to be the word of the day. Any talk of freebees ie. free hardwood floors, free appliances, was almost unheard of, according to the sales person we dealt with. Request them anyway! We received free appliances. We should have asked for much more ? Any upgrades done through the builder (Most likely any builder) are marked up by over 100%. We expected gouging, but not to this extent. I suggest getting your our general contractor and/or electrician. You will save tones of $$$ Get specific - We didn't expect to pay for bathroom drawers and/or kitchen drawers at $350 each??? 3 small drawers = $1000 ... Wow ... In addition, with us, we wanted some items not to be installed so that we can install our own. They would not leave us the bathroom mirror and/or light fixtures. Apparently they might disappear?? Okay .... whatever, I smell them wanting us to order though them ;) No automatic garage door or central vac. We should have bargained better and asked for these items anyway. Upgrading the stairs to hardwood would have been around $4000. Don't be afraid to re-design your house by asking them to remove half walls and or relocate the bathroom. They did this for us for free :) But enough with the gouging, here are some positives. Friendly sales people, nice home, nice service, and good neighbourhood, the company was ranked 32 out of 50 major builders in last months Homes magazine. Not bad eh .??? But again, our home is not finished yet, but when it is I will post another review if I find this web site again :) Overall they are very good so far, we should have asked more questions and demanded more free upgrades. Oh well, hopefully you will ? I little looking around for general contractors will save you BIG $$$. Go to the Home Show, you can get some nice deals. Good luck ?
