Our call to Mr. Rooter on Wednesday March 25th, was not your typical plumbing emergency. In fact, the only commonality there, was that our mishap began in the bathroom which was undergoing its second day of renovations. Our cat Karma had gotten curious as most cats do and decided to explore; but then she went missing and the only indication of her whereabouts was her faint meowing sound around 3 pm which disapperared shortly after 5 pm. Unable to find her and worried that she may be hurt or not found, we called all possible animal care providers looking for help. After desperately having called many services like the Toronto Humane Society, Wildlife Animal Rescue, Animal Control and 911, it was suggested for us to call Mr. Rooter! I have to admit that I was a bit skeptic about calling a plumbing company for help with this situation, but was otherwise desperate for assistance. Upon arrival of their plumbing technician, Mr. Robert Plantic, the professional search for Karma began. Robert inspected the possible areas where she could have gotten into, and then proceeded with the assistance of the snake and computer/camera and explained what he was going to do. His knowledge and caring way of reassuring us with words that Karma would be found, left us with hope. We later learned that Robert, who was in the office when our call had come in, had stepped up to the plate to do the rescue as he too adores cats. His job turned out to be somewhat tougher than he possibly imagined. After almost 2 hours of looking into furnace ducts, pipes, in between walls and under floorboards, Robert located Karma who had crept underneath the bathroom floorboard. As the renovators didn't know that she was there, they had proceeded with laying down the floorboards before leaving for the day. Possiby afraid of the noise, Karma had crept to a space approximately 10 feet away from the opening. She was too far off to reach and had to be enticed to come out. Robert reassured us that Karma was okay as he could see her wide and terrified eyes staring back at him. About an hour or so after Robert left, Karma came out and all was well. Robert even called back the next day to see how Karma was. Many thanks to Robert for his professionalism, awesome customer service skills, dedication and care!
