We now rely on 4 Star Electric as our first choice for any electrical work. We have used them now for a variety of projects in our older bungalow. These guys are a first class act. They present thorough, exceptionally courteous, and always present loving their work. They may cost a bit more than an individual electrician; but, from experience the quality they provide is worth it! We hired a private electrician to install a new fuse box. In end, we required 4 Star Electric to attend to correct and bring to code the inadequate install from the other electrician. We have used them 4 or 5x's now. We look forward to their return this week for a smaller install.

We, too, had a disappointing experience in choosing WFA this spring. They came so highly recommended. Admittedly, in initial estimate and meetings, Vaughan presented very upfront, professional, and responsive. Within a few months this began to wane. I suspect taking on too many jobs at a time, thus losing quality control. Our three month project extended to 6 months. Though,in end, project presents professional quality, we were forced to strongly advocate and argue repeatedly for ourselves to point out mistakes, and ensure were corrected. This took so much time and energy, left us asking why we had hired this team over others we equally considered. Issues: disconnect between design/ build aspects, hiring an incompetent tradesperson, and mistakes by other contractors which should never occur, communication gaps. Specific disappointments include our bathroom design with shower/bath under bulkhead, and lack of room for vanity, carpet laid a over a foot short over 25 plus linear space, left over toxic lacquer spilled into a hole in our yard, and in back alley, grout poured down our basement drain causing overflow. We felt comfortable, and safe with everyone within our home.Final product now presents well.Spending $95,000 was a big expenditure for us, and we expected better treatment, professionalism, and more 'wow' factor in final basement product. Hire WFA if you have a strong voice, and can attend diligently daily to catch errors/oversights. Positive mention: In only final few weeks, a very skilled and detailed project manager (Jorge?), joined our project. He impressed us, in his detail and commitment, to help redeem some prior experiences. With greater attention to these issues, and insisting only experienced trades on site, I am sure can do better.

Company Response

Hi Sue & Rob.

Thanks for the feedback. As always we appreciate feedback from our past clients, good or bad, as it's the best way to know how we are doing and fully understand those things we do well and those not so well. You've highlighted a few issues above that we were/are aware of and we have been continuously working as a company to improve in cooperation with our sub-trades and suppliers. To be sure, we have made adjustments to our internal processes and changes to some our sub-trades and suppliers based on yours (and others') feedback.

To be fair, we too found the project to be difficult and challenging at times. To that end, I feel the need to stand up for the commitment, time and effort our team expended at ensuring the completion of the project and to the high standard of quality in the finishing of your basement. Regardless of the challenges, be they ours or otherwise, we make it a point to complete the work we have been hired to do by our valued clients, of which you are certainly one. We don't take anything for granted and are always thankful for the opportunities given to us. Thanks again Sue & Rob and have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,

Vaughan Wallace & Brent Fleming
