I bought a sofa from GHJ for my new home. I told the sales staff that I needed delivery in 2-3 weeks and if I could just buy the floor model. The store manager in charge at the time told me since it is made in Toronto, I could have it in time before xMas.
3 weeks after I made several calls and was told that it would arrive at their warehouse soon.
After one email, several calls, and 2 store visits later, I got the sofa delivered 2 weeks after.
Overall, I would say my experience was probably better than most other folks here.
But here're my observations for others:
- The furniture at GHJ are very nice and the pricing is very reasonable
- Do not buy with a delivery deadline in mind. Give yourself lots of buffer
- Other furniture places are probably the same - no better or worse
- Ask for the origin of the sofa. If it is Canada or the US, your chances of receiving it timely are higher than say if it comes from the Far East
- I think GHJ could probably have a better system in updating their clients with respect to the ETAs. If they put some focus in that area, then they would be head and above other furniture retailers
