Our old 14 x 58 ft. driveway was crumbling after about 40 years. We hired one contractor who kept putting us off for a start date and so we cancelled their contract. I called Wade at Concrete Replacement Experts and explained the situation that I was in a bind and winter was approaching. He said that since they were just finishing another job in St. Albert, his crew could be at my house to start my driveway the next day. And they were there as promised! A very pleasant difference from the other contractor. Concrete Replacement Experts had the old driveway and sidewalk jackhammered out and removed in a day on Wednesday. They brought in road crush and packed it down the next day. The following day Friday they installed and tied the rebar, all on small "chairs" so that they rebar would sit in the middle of the poured concrete, not on the ground at the bottom. Early Saturday morning two cement trucks and a concrete pumper arrived and had the whole driveway poured in 1 short hour! The concrete finishing crew went to work and the job was done by mid-afternoon. We were very pleased with the whole job, from Wade and his crew's good communication, to the useful tips they gave us, the quality of the work, the short time it took, the friendliness and reliability of the workers (thanks Rick and crew!) and especially the final result. Many neighbors stopped by to say the work looked great and asked the crew for a brochure since their driveway needs replacing too. Concrete Replacement Experts even pressure washed the street when the job was done and put in new topsoil around the edge of the new driveway. How good is that!? They completed the job Tuesday by saw cutting the expansion joints in the driveway. See the attached photos to see the finished "masterpiece." We are very pleased with all the work and the new driveway!

Company Response

Hi Gord,

I'm glad we were able to fit you in with our tight schedule. Rick & the guys put in a fantastic effort and got it wrapped up quickly even though we we're down a guy for a few days.

I'm glad it all worked out even though you were put off by another company.

Your friend in Edm who you referred us to is going to go ahead and replace their driveway this year as is your neighbour on the next block. I know they visited your project a few times and spoke with you again today.

Thank-you for telling everybody how happy you are, it really means a lot to me and I'm very grateful for that and this review.

Take Care
Wade

As the snow melted after our looong cold winter, I had a leak develop beside our chimney and water was dripping out of the soffit. Matt responded to my call right away and offered to come fix the roof just a couple of days later on Friday and then install the new continuous eavestrough‘s on Monday. The work was done on time as promised & the quality of the work was very good. No more leak! All at a very competitive price too. Matt and all of his work crew were very friendly and kept me informed throughout. They even did the last of the work during yet another snow squall. When Matt came to do the final inspection, he even offered to paint the chimney flashings to match my house trim. A nice finishing touch. I would strongly recommend Matt’s roofing.

I had always suspected the previous homeowner had done a foundation repair job on one wall of our St. Albert home. A melting late-spring snowfall and then constant rain confirmed that the repair had failed and started to leak again behind a bathroom wall. After cutting out drywall, Travis (from Abarent) and I confirmed that it seemed to be a poorly done job, apparently done repaired from the inside. Because the bathroom wall & shower obscured the view of the whole crack, we could not tell if it had been completely repaired. We agreed that an outside repair was the best way to fix the problem long-term. Abarent was very busy with such a wet spring and unfortunately took a month to schedule the work. Then they had to reschedule for a few days later because they wanted to have a full crew to do the repair as quickly as possible once the digging started. Because there was a power line about 1 meter from the wall, the 25ft. of foundation had to be dug by hand! Once the Abarent crew started digging, they had the foundation dug in a few hours...very hard working crew! The cracks were sealed, the new sump pump was installed and the new tar-like waterproof membrane was applied that day. The next morning, after the membrane had set, the crew returned and applied the Styrofoam protection boards and filled the excavation back in with washed gravel. Then they did a good job of cleaning up the whole jobsite. Travis returned late that day to inspect the job, answer my questions and replace the plastic bathroom vent hood that had been broken during the job. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work done, the diligence and speed of the work crew, the comprehensive information package accompanying the quote, the level of communication and the clean-up. The only thing that could have been better was to get the work started sooner, but the weather was a factor in Abarent having a prolonged schedule. Also, be aware that until it dries completely there is a chemical smell to the waterproof membrane, but that fades over a few days.

I had a couple of problems - the inlet pipe was leaking where it attached to the top of my hot water tank, as well as water from my washing machine backing up into the adjacent tub sink whenever the machine emptied. I called Alberta Water Pros and David came out a couple of days later and promptly and efficiently fixed both problems. He was easy to deal with and kept me informed of what he was doing and why. Once done, David noticed that the previous home owner had hooked up the exhaust from the hot water tank to the furnace flue in an illegal and potentially dangerous way. Dave came back a week later and made the necessary changes so that it now done in a better, safer way...and for no extra charge! Great service and I will not hesitate to recommend Alberta Water Pros to others.

We ordered granite countertops for our complete kitchen renovation. The person who came in to do the templating and measuring had just been to another large job and was still completely distracted by it when he templated our countertops. He obviously wasn't concentrating because he missed my mention of an overhang on our peninsula. We never saw any drawings to sign off confirming the understanding of what we were ordering. When the countertops were delivered and installed, we found the one top was 5 inches too short. They said that we never told them of the overhang, which is not true. Their response was to either give us a token credit or they would come and rip the countertops out and we could get them elsewhere. How's that for the ultimate in lousy customer service? No wonder the owner drives a Lamborghini...he has so much business he can afford to mistreat customers. If you use this company, beware! And get all measurements in a drawing first and keep a copy.
