I hired Mein Haus to finish up the removal of the tile in my kitchen and entrance way (40sq ft; my friend did a bunch already), install the vinyl for 306 sq ft and re-staining my 157 sq ft bedroom. Steve sent me an estimate (2745 incl. tax) without having anyone view my space and relied solely on my calculations of st ft. As you can imagine, this did not end well. The demo ended up costing $450 (after tax) more than the estimate despite me expressing my concern about not having anyone determine the actual scope of the work (my estimates were clearly wrong as I have no idea what I'm doing, which is fine but if I had known it was going to end up being that expensive, it would have changed my game plan). Steve assured me it wouldn't be an issue. The vinyl installation turned out to be BEAUTIFUL though, the job was done fast and I'm very happy with the end result (except the re-staining which had many flaws). HOWEVER, after I paid and was told to tell him about any touch up (many are needed for the re-staining), I was told it's just the colour of the wood (it's not in my opinion) and haven't back from Steve on when they will do the touch ups and come back to finish the incomplete work (they did not put the shoe molding back on in the bedroom). To summarize: Pros: adjusted the deposit to a lessor amount; job commenced/ended fast; vinyl install looks great; communicative up until paid Cons: did not toss trash; vinyl installers were a bit careless in laying the cement (had to clean up on cupboards); CHARGED MORE THAN ESTIMATE; re-staining issues; job partially incomplete; GHOSTED
