I own a small fourplex and Kevin's the only plumber I've trusted for the last 5 years. My building is over 100 years old and that presents a number of problems, but whatever the issue he makes it right (and to code - very important for rental apartments). He does what he says he'll do and his knowledge is encyclopedic (and his prices are fair). I've recommended him a number of times and would absolutely do so again.

I have been using David for a number of years, as have my parents. David brings his own paint coloring kit, so he can mix and match paint on the spot. He's tremendously clever at filling small gaps in trim, wood, paneling, and drywall before painting, to create a smooth, perfect surface. He's rescued a number of rooms from bad drywalling and other contractor nightmares. I can't imagine using another painter.

This is an okay, slightly cheaper alternative to IKEA. The cabinets are decent quality, though dripmarks from the uneven staining and small marks are visible right out of the box. In terms of service, while the sales staff is friendly, they are not designers by any means - they have no real suggestions in terms of designs, alternatives, colors, etc. You will need to come with your own design in mind. And, be prepared to factor in the cost of installation - I have been installing the cabinets myself, and if I was not an accomplished handyman with my own set of tools I would never have been able to. The cabinets come out of the box without the hardware attached, and often with no clear indication how or where it should be attached. IKEA assembly is a breeze compared to this. So unless you're very comfortable with wood working, be prepared to pay extra for installation.
