Used Groupon to contract Home Pro to clean eavestrough: price $29 + $5 tax. 'Mike' came on time, October 24th and went up, came down and said “Sorry your Groupon does not cover Gutter Guards (which we had). That will be $150”. I told him that we were never asked if we had gutter guards when we booked Home Pro, but don't bother to proceed with cleaning. 'Mike' said we would get a refund. I said ok, we’d clean the gutters ourselves. He then suggested that we should have him do some caulking in places that he noticed needed attention. He consulted with Scott, his 'supervisor' by cell phone on what to charge. I paid $200 cash (no receipt). Few days later a caulking location began to leak. We booked an appointment through the office for someone to come and look at the situation. At the appointment time, instead of 'Mike' appearing to correct the problems, the owner 'Scott' telephoned. Scott was abrupt to the point of abusive when I inquired about the caulking. He said ‘no paperwork (for the caulking) no repair’. Ok, I understood my mistake in paying cash for a faulty job. However it took some time before he agreed to refund the original $29 + $5 tax for the never done gutter cleaning. As he virtually demanded that bad feedback not be left, he promised to email me an acknowledgement in a day or 2 that the $29 +$5 refund cheque had been mailed to me. This was November 6. My wife later called, November 27 after receiving neither email nor cheque. 'Melissa' in customer service said she had no record of any of our work but that a refund could take up to 1 month for them to process. 'Melissa' also stated that my wife could not speak to 'Scott' but could only email him. As of, this date (December 12) not one word or dollar from Home Pro. We have since looked at Home Stars website and this company has a long list of very bad feedback. We felt that Groupon would not deal with unsatisfactory companies and we should have checked Home Stars in advance. We would never recommend dealing with Scott or Home Pro and now need to think twice about dealing with Groupon.
